Things to do in New Jersey, United States: The Best Golf Courses

November 30, 2021 Osvaldo Hartline

Whether you are looking for sun-drenched beaches or outdoor activities in beautiful countryside, New Jersey has plenty to offer. Those who love the great outdoors should head for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which runs along the Delaware River for forty miles. Here you can go rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking or fishing, or simply admire the stunning waterfalls. There is a huge range of hiking trails to choose from as well as historic sites to visit. In winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing near Blue Mountain Lakes, and birdwatchers might be lucky enough to catch sight of bald eagles. If you are looking for a change, visit one of New Jersey's eleven lighthouses that are open to public, such as the one in Cape May. For art and history enthusiasts, New Jersey State Museum in Trenton has historic artifacts and American fine art from the nineteenth century to the present day as well as a Planetarium.

To my fellow early rising Ball Striking Dawn to Dusk Players. The Scotts may have invented GOLF, but OHHHH how the wish they had Ballyowen to play it on. I salute Crystal Springs Resort for the impeccable condition they maintain this Jewel of a Golfer's Dream Golf Course. The Ambiance, Accomodations, Grounds Crew, Staff Members, Cart Gals/Accoutrements, Restaurants, and Pro Shop are SECOND TO NONE! I've spend numerous weekends there and this organization continuously improves all around. I am grateful for this Golf Heaven on Earth. To you Doubters ..I'm not paid for my thoughts or words. Just a fellow golf junkie that can't get enough of the game I love so much. Play Ballyowen and you too shall be hooked. Especially after you see and hear the "Live" Bagpipe Player from atop the highest local hill blowing melodic Scottish tunes with his instrument each evening, at the crack of "Dusk". You'll begin to imagine yourself playing at the Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland.

Atlantic City Country Club

As one of America's oldest and most prolific golf clubs, Atlantic City Country Club has been home to many firsts, including being the "Birthplace of the Birdie." The earliest traditions of this seaside links course are still evident today. Finely manicured fairways and large sloping green complexes protected by deep sand bunkers remain the course's signature as it did more than a century ago. Long carries over natural ponds and salt water marshes also make the course a formidable challenge for any golfer. Shifting breezes, the distinct scent of saltwater, and windswept fescue only add to the total experience. It's no wonder Atlantic City Country Club is named the #1 Public Golf Course in the State of NJ by Golf Week, Golf Magazine and Golf Digest. ATLANTIC CITY COUNTRY CLUB ALSO FEATURES THE TAPROOM BAR & GRILLE AND EQUISITE WEDDING AND BANQUET FACILITIES.

This course the best for variety of holes - although off the boardwalk it is within walking distance and is well worth the effort to take a stroll to it -- pick up a snack before or after you play too -- it is great fun and as I wrote, the best course in Ocean City

We stopped and played (2) 9 hole mini golf. We also did the bumper cars. The guy saw we weren't having the best of days so he made the day a little better by giving us a little more time on the bumper cars. Had a blast, we really needed a good laugh and a good time that day.
