Things to do in Nagasaki, Kyushu-Okinawa: The Best Historical & Heritage Tours

January 25, 2022 Concepcion Newsome

Nagasaki (長崎市, Nagasaki-shi, Japanese: [naɡaꜜsaki]) ( listen (help·info)) is the capital and the largest city of Nagasaki Prefecture on the island of Kyushu in Japan. The city's name, 長崎, means "Long Cape" in Japanese. Nagasaki became a centre of colonial Portuguese and Dutch influence in the 16th through 19th centuries, and Churches and Christian Sites in Nagasaki have been proposed for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Part of Nagasaki was home to a major Imperial Japanese Navy base during the First Sino-Japanese War and Russo-Japanese War.

Dream Tours Japan was born out of the idea of giving people the feeling of being connected with the destination in every facet of the tour. Whether it be from the on board commentary, insights into daily Japanese life, historical and important information of each attraction, cultural experiences, Japanese food and drink tastings as well as personal opinions and facts about what it is truly life to live as an expat in this weird and wonderful country we call Japan. It is my belief that only a Private Tour consisting of a small numbers of members can create this important connection that will stay with us for the rest of our lives!

Inclusions: An on the go lunch or sit down picnic is provided on the day/, Alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages are provided at certain times of the day., WiFi on board, Still and sparkling water is provided throughout the day together.

Exclusions: Gratuities

We have happily hired Shannon Lefebvre twice for our two visits to Nagasaki. Yes, we did the usual tourist sites, but he also gives you an enjoyable glimpse of daily life in the area, including -- weather permitting -- a tasty picnic lunch and immersing your tired traveler's feet in soothing hot springs water. An excellent day trip for cruise ship passengers or other visitors to Nagasaki and vicinity.

it was af fine day in Kochi City, there was a good flow to the contents and it all conncted together quite well. The guide was good and explained things well in addition to giving us a lot of free time to ourselves to explore Hirome Market and the Sunday Market. Keep in mind that there is a lot of walking but overall it is a fine experience

The flexibility to chose locations that suited our wants and abilities was great. Hiro San was very quick to put together an itinerary that accommodated a family with a stroller-baby (no monkey park due to long unpacked walking paths). Taking in the beautiful temples and view of the Kyoto from the west was breath taking and the guide was able to explain many things we as new Japanese learners could not read or know through cultural knowledge. Overall a great experience, a wonderful and lively guide, and some great memories.

While we were sad to have to cancel our July trip to Japan due to the pandemic, we found the process of working with Japan Awaits to be easy and efficient. I can't speak to the full experience since we weren't able to go, but filling out the form and our communication with the company was no problem. And their prompt and courteous response to our request for a refund speaks to their professionalism. We will definitely come back to ask for their help in procuring tickets to the Studio Ghibli Museum when we do finally make it to Japan! Fingers crossed for next summer.
