NOTICE: All our staff and guides will ensure all necessary prevention techniques. Also, we will enforce our clients to do the same. this includes keeping distance, wearing a mask as well as frequent hand washing and sanitization. Perhaps most unique to Mikumi is the large buffaloes population. The largest member of the antelope family cuts a striking figure as it grazes on the open fields, and the park's huge array of birdlife (over 400 species) make it a birder's paradise as well. Big cats such as lions and leopard are also available

I had a really great trip to Mikumi National Park with Halifa. He’s a very friendly guide and taught me a lot about the animals and the nature of Tanzania. He knew where all the different animals were and showed me around the park. We saw a lot of elephants, giraffes, impalas, zebras, wildebeasts, buffalos, hippos and even a pack of lions! I would definitely recommend going on a game drive with Tail Spotter Safari! It was an experience I’ll never forget.

My friends and I planned for a trip to Tanzania. After thorough searching, we finally settled to go with SG Tanzania tours. This is best decision we ever made. We contacted SG tours via mail and within few minutes, we had the response from the manager Supati detailing every aspect of the safari. We choose five days in Tanzania as we had limited time. three days prior to entering Tanzania, we did Amboseli National park via Leisure Escapes safaris ltd, (another excellent company i recan recommend if travelling to Kenya). From Amboseli, we were driven to Kenya Tanzania border and after the immigration and covid 19 process, we were met with ever smiling ad cheerful driver guide Saluu. He is the best and highly recommend him. We went to Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngororngoro, Lake manyara and finally ended our safari back to Kenya with drop off at Namanga border. During the entire safari, Saluu kept us busy telling us facts and tourism in Tanzania. Every wild animals we encountered mattered a lot and Saluu guided us very professionally. If we had ample time, we would have spent more time in Tanzania. I highly recommend this company!!! Bravo to Saluu and the organizing manager Supati.

Kumekucha Africa Tour & Safari is Tanzanian owned and operated. We booked them after exhaustive research into the different tour operators, and were not disappointed. You can trust them to give you an unforgettable experience. They were in great contact with us in advance of the trip, and even allowed for a last minute 1 day delay that we required. You might be mistrustful of the quality of this tour because it is far cheaper...but I assure you the food, lodging, and guide are all top quality. Our guide, Hamad, arrived exactly on time to pick us up from our Dar Es Salaam hotel. He drove us to breakfast and then on to Morogoro. The vehicle was clean and his driving was great: safe but not slow. The ride was 6 hours in total before reaching the park, and it wasn't entirely comfortable, so be prepared. Hamad took us to lunch and then into Mikumi National Park. Through long experience and keeping in touch with other guides, he was able to efficiently direct us to all the wildlife. He paid close attention to what we found interesting and focused on keeping us happy. For example, he pointed out a bird and saw that neither my wife nor I cared about birds. He didn't mention birds again. Later, my wife pointed out a bird herself, saying it was 'beautiful." Hamad pointed out 'beautiful birds' to my wife when he saw them after that give details amazing. Every detail of the trip was handled by Kumekucha. He checked us into our hotel (see separate review of TanSwiss Lodge) and helped us order food and ensured we were comfortable throughout our time with him. After two days touring Mikumi, we had seen all the animals that live in the area. We took a drive up to Udzungwa to hike the rain forest trails. This drive was long and bumpy. It made for an incredibly long 3rd day, but I think if you are so close to this much natural beauty, it is a shame to skip it. Hamad checked us in with a guide for the Udzungwi National Park, fed us breakfast, and sent us on our way. The full waterfall hike is about 10k, and a pretty demanding hike. The views of the waterfall and the surrounding landscape are worth it. We saw monkeys and lizards, spiders, a snake, and even a couple of crabs. CRABS! The ride back to Dar Es Salaam from Udzungwi took 8 hours. The inevitable traffic near the city tested our worn out patience. Hamad had been driving for 3 straight days but was all smiles and encouragement. He delivered us to our hotel safe and sound and tired and satisfied. Be patient with the processes. You'll need to check in to the parks, have your ID recorded, pages stamped. You'll be stopped at roadside checks. Traffic in the city will stop for minutes at a time. But Kumekucha will get you where you're going so relax and enjoy yourself.

It was a very unusual experience from the very beginning. It was a joined trip suggested by a couple from Moscow, with whom me and my hubby are in close relation. They booked tickets for themselves and for us via a Moscow agency "Safari-Zanzibari". I was very nervous to trust a deal like this initially, but we decided to try our luck and soon four of us shot off to Tanzania for 4 days in total, for a safari/fishing trip. I have to compliment the tourist agent: everything went incredibly smoothly, the bookings were organized flawlessly. Transfers from the hotel to the airport and to the town of Dar es Salaam were on the dot without a delay. In the town we were met by a guide who took us for a tour straight away. The Selous Game Reserve to start with, then came a hearty lunch, then a short break followed by fishing on The Rufiji River (I could not believe the amount of crocodiles there - was pretty scary to pass by them). So, I suspect that the first day was a sort of taster, for all of us to get a feel for the true safari ahead. In the evening we were taken to our lodge for dinner (local food and wine were to die for - highly recommend). Day 2 was dedicated totally to animal watching in the Selous Game Reserve. We saw so many animals, it was totally breathtaking. Superb photo-opportunities for everyone, not only the nature lovers. Day 3 was dedicated to fishing on the Rufiji river, again. Great pastime for the boys! The catch was cooked right there on the river bank by one of the cooks. If this was not enough - there was an entertainment program in the evening(dancing and national songs by the swimming pool). Day 4 held a surprise for those who are not fainthearted. With the help of a truly experienced guide one could take a trip on foot around the reserve, which was totally worth it. I could carry on describing the experience for ages, but probably it is better for you to try it out yourself. I am glad that the travel agent Safari-Zanzibari did not disappoint and had proven to be extremely reliable. Highly recommend treating oneself to a trip like this!

We booked a day tour with African Pangolin Safaris. They were very responsive and organized a tour for us only one day ahead of our inquiry. It was a wonderful experience! Our tour guide and driver was Yunus. He is very knowledgeable of both animals and plants and the Mikumi Park and area in general. The road and traffic from Dar Es Salaam to Mikumi is very busy and crowded and the travel takes some time and effort - Yunus also did that part like a pro, always calm and careful. I wholeheartedly recommend African Pangolin Safaris, great agency and great people!

Mikumi is Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park. It’s also the most accessible from Dar es Salaam. With almost guaranteed wildlife sightings, it makes an ideal safari destination for those without much time. Since the completion of the paved road connecting the park gate with Dar es Salaam, Mikumi National Park has been slated to become a hotspot for tourism in Tanzania. Located between the Uluguru Mountains and the Lumango range, Mikumi is the fourth largest national park in Tanzania and only a few hours drive from Tanzania’s largest city. The park has a wide variety of wildlife that can be easy spotted and also well acclimatized to game viewing. Its proximity to Dar es Salaam and the amount of wildlife that live within its borders makes Mikumi National Park a popular option for weekend visitors from the city, or for business visitors who don’t have to spend a long time on an extended safari itinerary.

We booked a customized safari - 2 days in Mikumi for animals watching with a overnight stay in a lodge inside the park - 1 day Mikumi town - 1 day hiking in Moro Goro For a fair price. We had a fantastic trip! Abraham took great care of us, we learned a lot about the Tanzanian culture and history, as well as the current "state" of the country. We saw lots of animals, we have great memories to take back home. The trip itself was very well organized, we felt very safe (even though Tanzania seems to be a safe country anyway). Bohobe has a "fair" approach to business and you can see the money is "redistributed" in the local economy, which is highly appreciated. Abraham is a local, speaks perfect English so the communication was easy and without misunderstandings, which makes it possible to have really interesting conversations, not just superficial animals descriptions. We heard they also have German and French speaking staff. Mikumi might not be the most popular park in the country but we were happy to go there and we saw plenty of animals. It's just a few hours drive away from Dar Es Salaam, which allows for a combined Safari + Zanzibar stay. We for sure highly recommend Bohobe and hope to stay in touch with Abraham!

Mikumi National Park has abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplains that draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Lions survey their grassy kingdom and the zebra, wildebeest, impala and buffalo herds that migrate across it from the flattened tops of termite mounds. It is perhaps the most reliable place in Tanzania to view the eland, the world’s largest antelope.

We had a great 2 day/1 night trek in the Uluguru mountains with Grayson as an excellent guide. Well planned trip. He picked us from the bus station in Morogoro and we began the trek a few hours later. Grayson is very responsive and professional. He runs a great locally owned/managed safari/guiding operation in Morogoro. I've trekked throughout Tanzania and would highly recommend this if passing through Morogoro or want a long weekend away from Dar Es Salaam. The food was also great on the trek and he caters towards whatever type of food preference you have. Morning site is a cool camp site with beautiful views for the overnight as well. Highly recommended. Thanks Grayson & Yetu Safaris for the experience!
