We love going into Howse's Fudge shop when we visit Harbor Springs each summer while on vacation. Their fudge is excellent and the smells amazing. What I love the most is seeing the whole family at work in the shop. There are kids hard at work from age 5 through teen agers each doing a job that suits their age level. This takes me back to the days of old where many large families worked together in the family business and we are glad that Howse's is so successful. There is always a number of people in the shop purchasing the yummy treats which is a good sign. We tried the chocolate covered blue berry and raspberries this year which were to die for. I highly recommend this guilty pleasure.

A very interesting factory tour of the Chelsea Milling Company. Takes about an hour, which includes an introductory film about the family-owned business since 1901, then a guided tour through the factory. Our guide was Thomas, very friendly and knowledgeable, and he did an excellent job, explaining the creation of the original jiffy mix, the family history, the evolution of the plant from a small flour mill to a sprawling factory, shipping jiffy mix throughout the U.S., and explaining the steps in the manufacturing process. And we were even given a gift bag at the end of the tour. It was well worth the time.

I just love this outlet mall. It is very posh and contemporary, yet warm and welcoming. The layout is really nice. Even though we were there on a very cold day, it was fine since the buildings block the wind. We enjoyed the outdoor fireplace. Highly recommend a stop in.

If you want it they sell it. You can get lost in here and that isn’t all bad. It’s a great place to wander around in and I almost guarantee you won’t walk out empty handed. They’re serious about Covid protocol and I appreciate it. There’s a guard at the entrance and you don’t get in without a temperature check and a properly worn mask. It’s a great and interesting place. Well worth the visit.

We hadn’t stopped here in the last couple of years and noticed that since our last visit, Williams Cheese has since remodeled. It looked very nice inside. Same cheeses, dips, curds, and other condiments which is always a plus. They also carry some meat and Amish butter. I did notice they eliminated the baked goods they used to carry but maybe that is because of COVID. Not sure. And the number of trinkets was less than before. The quality and the price of the cheese has remained the same.....Yummy and reasonable. And usually when we go inside you can see them making and processing the cheese since they have glass windows for viewing. Perfect if you are taking children inside. I also like that their restroom is hands-free especially with COVID affecting everyone. It is worth stopping at Williams Cheese even if it is only to take a picture by the big cow outside the store.
