Royal Park Nature Play Playground

Reviewed By Kerryn72 - Melbourne, Australia

Large playground, inspired by a nature theme, in Royal Park next to the Royal Children's Hospital. Park is connected to other parts of the park by walkways. The play equipment is large and sturdy- the kids love exploring and climbing. The surrounding gardens are also lovely. Great place to stop for a picnic or BBQ if visiting the RCH. I particularly liked the area where you could build a shelter from branches....the kids loved sitting inside and hiding away. Parking nearby has strict time limits- and the inspectors check so make sure you pay for more time than you think you'll need. There are lots of food venues inside the RCH if you get there and decide to make it a picnic (Subway, noodles, Maccas, coffee shops etc). I was really impressed with this playground. Only downside- very little shade/ undercover area.... wear sunscreen and bring a hat!

1st time Ive been here and I was really impressed, watched the rugby league Melbourne Storm vs Western Tigers and was very surprised how well getting in and to our seats, food and drink service was fantastic and didn't have much of a wait. The ground was clean, had a great view of the whole match. Once again very impressed.

With the park closed for organised sport, the birds have taken over the ovals and walkers, joggers, and cyclists are using the many paths through it. Today in the North east of the park I saw Red Rumped Parrots on the lawns and the Woody Garden has some mid Winter flowers out.

My punters group (Poor Boys Punters Club) just attended their 24th Cox Plate and I racked up 15 visits. We have not had a bad visit in all that time and the facilities just keep improving to make the experience even better. We get there early & visit the stables to look over our choices and pick up the vibe. Our seats are always in a fantastic spot with the finishing post in line which gives us just about the same view as the Judges !! Plus Darryl sings the "Horses" just below us but was missing in 2019 !!! We enjoy the buffet & drinks in the Inner Circle Restaurant which is part of the members and Dianne & her servers are fantastic & attentive. I only got 3rd place in the Plate but at good odds had a successful day on the punt and can't wait till next years visit to the Valley !

A huge place to gamble or just to admire and or indulge yourself in fine dining at joining restaurants, A dedicated Poker room is awesome, heaps of pokies and many floors to explore the tables or the bars and excellent food.
