Ashuwillticook Rail Trail

Reviewed By lupaglupa - Albany, United States

The Ashuwillticook rail trail is a well made and well maintained trail that goes by lovely scenery and has good facilities. There are numerous access points with parking, lots of benches and picnic tables, and interesting markers with information along the route. We biked the path and thought it was great. We saw lots of walkers and runners using the trail too. It's nice and wide so passing other people was never a problem. We especially enjoyed the section of the trail north of Cheshire which passes through a wetlands. The southern section, while having pretty views of the Cheshire reservoir, was a bit noisy from the nearby road traffic. Still - a great place to explore.

My husband and I ran the Provincelands Trail. We took advantage of the free parking at the Visitor Center, where we started/ended our run. The views from the Visitor Center were breathtaking. The path was beautiful and not crowded; this is a must-do for active travelers visiting P-town!

Upper Charles Bike Trail

Reviewed By Travellinguy2013 - Dallas, United States

This paved path goes along the course of the Charles river head waters, and an old granite transport rail way, with some informational signs along the way. Where it crosses the very busy route 85, there is an automatic crossing light. There is a parking lot at one end and about two mile trail that passes a couple nice ponds and ends up in downtown Milford.

Salisbury Rail Trail

We have been on this trail many times and enjoy it. It is paved the entire way and is an easy flat walk. There are views of woods and marsh. There is free parking at the southern end near the bridge to Newburyport. It can get crowded at times. This is a good outing--a good leisurely walk.

Cape Cod Rail Trail

This bike path runs 25 miles, from Dennis to Wellfleet.

Reviewed By O8419NOadamw

For a family of 5 it is a great mostly straight long mostly very flat bike trail through a forest. It is an easy ride and great for young riders as my nine year old was able to go 17 miles with relative ease. I could see some complaints as there are some riders who act like it's the tour de france racing through the trail with little regard to others while others could think it is mostly a boring forest scenery. We started in Brewster at the Ocean Edge and the scenery was much nicer west towards Dennis

A very interesting area to go hiking. Many trails and all types of large granite rocks strewn everywhere. There are a large number of them which have had stone cutters engrave savings into that make for a fun hike. The trails are long and could be confusing so make sure to get a map ahead of time to make the hike more enjoyable. Worth a visit and plan on a few hours to full enjoy it.
