Everything about this cruise was fine except that we never got to or even close to Bai Tu Long Bay. Early the 2nd day, still in Ha Long Bay (I was tracking this on Google Maps), the propeller apparently fell off our boat and we spent most of the day anchored, awaiting repair. The scheduled activities--kayaking, beach time, beach BBQ, etc., --continued unabated, and repairs were effected on the night of the second day. The third day's activities continued as scheduled, all in Ha Long Bay, nothing ever in Bai Tu Long Bay. Few apologies were offered, and, given the worsening economic situation in Vietnam, we did not complain. The sales pitch was all about Bai Tu Long, how uncrowded it is, etc., but we never saw it.

We arranged a 9 days tour for the four of us with Motorcyclist Tours to see the North East Ha Giang, Ban Gioc waterfalls and then Ha Long Bay. Our guide was extremely friendly and accommodating. Note that even though it says the trip is to the North East to see the waterfalls, it includes a lot more. We rode through the villages on a Enduro, interacted with some of the locals, drank sugar cane juice, seen how rice was processed, watched a lady make rice noodles and then sampled her noodle dish. We rode our enduro from small village to the next small village, to the next – so lovely to see the culture and beautiful countryside which you cannot appreciate unless you venture outside of Cao Bang. We also went to an off the beat track to view grotto which was beautiful. At the end of the trip we drove to Ha Long Bay, spent 3 days 2 nights on a luxury cruise. Really enjoy kayaking, swimming biking and hiking in Cat Ba island. After that, we drove back Hanoi to visit the southern on ourselves. We would highly recommend this route and this company. Cycling is a great way to experience Vietnam. First and foremost because the travel pace adapts to one's own desire and likewise, the experiences seem stronger from the saddle on a 2-wheeler than the passenger seat in a car. On this 16-day tour, we have put together a varied program that combines the major sights with local attractions and rural surroundings. You will thus get spicy sightseeing of Vietnam's recent history of cycling in the cities, and you will become part of the street crowd on your cycling journey around the planned attractions.

This activity offers a nice comfy excursion out of the busy city of Dalat to the countryside. The coffee shop which is part of this tour is quite nice to sit and drink a cup of coffee as it has some nice exposed view of the coffee farm. The falls are very nice. There are some walks down and up the elephant falls but it is worth it as you can get quite close to the waterfall and behind, underneath the fall! I also have to recommend it for the super nice guide, Tin Tin, humorous and knowledgable. I recommend it!

This tour package hits on three of the main destinations around Hanoi while making Hanoi home base. The only activity in Hanoi was the water puppet show. To be clear this is not one cohesive tour but four separate tours/activities packaged together so there will be some down time between tours which is nice to unwind and explore Hanoi on your own or book a separate walking tour, cooking class or anything else you want to do in Hanoi. The package provided everything from my transport to and from the airport and various activities as well as all of the lodgings. The staff at The Church Travels were very accommodating, responsive and had a lot of good recommendations. Now on to the tours themselves. It goes without saying that Halong Bay has one of the most beautiful sceneries out there, even on my first day when there was overcast. The bedroom on the boat was clean and had all of the amenities needed for an overnight stay and the meals were nicely prepared. I was very satisfied. Although some of the stops in the bay were jam packed with other tourist groups, it did not spoil the views once we made it. Trekking and the homestay in Sapa was definitely the highlight of this package for me. What a unique and wonderful experience to trek through the mountains and end up at our host's home. I was very fortunate to be part of a good group of fellow trekkers as well as having an awesome host, Mama Chao and her family. Her home cooked meals were made of dishes mostly grown on here land! Though simple, her home had all the amenities for comfort like a shower, western toilets and even wifi! Since Halong Bay and Sapa were my main objectives for this tour, I really didn't do any research or have any expectations for Ninh Binh and treated it as a bonus but it turned out to be very educational and interesting with views and destinations I won't forget. The row boat ride through the mountains and rice fields of Tam Coc and the views a top of Dragon Mountain were spectacular!

Isolated Mai Chau and the nearby villages are in a valley around 139km from Hanoi and only 150 metres above sea level. Nestled between two towering cliffs and surrounded by emerald green paddies, it is an enchanting sight as you approach down the windy cliff side road and the villages and surrounding countryside present an idyllic rural scene that could easily charm you into staying longer than intended. The majestic nature, peaceful landscapes and enthusiasm of the Thai locals will definitely leave unforgettable impressions in tourists' mind.

I highly recommend taking this cruise on Bai Tu Long Bay, which is just as beautiful as Halong Bay but much more exclusive with not as much tourist traffic and the water is cleaner. We enjoyed the spectacular view, high-end accommodations, amazing food and excellent service. The cruise included a beach dinner on one of the Karsts that had a path which wound up to the top with spectacular views - magical. We also did some kayaking and reading on the deck. I do recommend two nights because you truly have time to relax and enjoy the bay. It was the perfect way to end our Cambodia/Vietnam trip.
