Giovanni and his team created a wonderful experience for my clients on retreat in Puglia. Learning to make pasta by hand and then being served the most delicious lunch was a highlight. More so the way Giovanni took care of us was so personal, we got an authentic Italian experience with a local Italian! He made us all feel very at home , this added value he especially for my American clients who were visiting Puglia for the first time. I will be hiring Green Italy Tours for future retreats knowing I can trust the level of care and connection on offer. An insiders experience of Puglia, what more to ask for!

The zone that separate Lecce from the sea proves the beauty of Salento’s landscape and still preserves the traces of the important role that this area played in the history. Riding out from Lecce towards the southeast through secondary roads, we will reach the fortified village of Acaya, a Messapic site where you will admire the majestic castle, the walls of the village and his ancient city plan, still preserved. Then we will move towards the WWF natural park “Le Cesine”, which hides many beautiful plants and water birds. So we will refresh with a nice swim in Torre Specchia and we will cycle back to Lecce crossing a landscape full of olive trees and small villages

Inclusions: Bottled water, Local guide, Use of bicycle, Use of helmet, Transport by private vehicle

Exclusions: Hotel pickup and drop-off (if option not selected)

We were recommended this tour by a good friend of ours and we are so grateful. We have recently retired and had this tour planned for this Autumn but then Covid happened. Carlo at Salento Bici Tour was really helpful in providing updates on the situation in Italy and the options if we needed to cancel. At one point we decided not to go but the thought of a long Winter prompted us to go for it. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour that takes you around the coast of Salento and it’s surrounding countryside side starting and finishing in beautiful Lecce. The GPS route avoids the main roads and down country lanes and alley ways: passing a myriad of olive groves, charming towns and villages and spectacular cliffs and beaches. The architecture is amazing: so many examples Baroque architecture, imposing castles, defence towers and lighthouses. We stayed at a variety of B&B’s and villas and for most evenings the tour includes reservations at local restaurants and what memorable meals we enjoyed. There are also local food and drink tastings: these were a bit hit and miss but we thoroughly enjoyed the lunch of cheese, wine and homemade Limoncello at a cheese farm hosted by the very charming owner. Salento Bici have invested in new bikes and e-bikes and were of very good quality and fun to ride. We are very grateful for the team at Salento Bici for being so friendly and helpful: thank you so much. It is worth adding an extra day or two at the end of the tour to take in the sights of Lecce and Bari ( we flew into Bari. Nb you can also get flights into Brindisi).

Today I had the pleasure of Stefano, who took us to two different wineries. It was a super experience. Stefano was a really good guide who drove us back and forth. Stefano was able to answer everything we asked. In addition, he was very service minded, smiling and spoke good English. Can only be recommended! :-)

Our travel agent in the UK used Acampora for local arrangements on the ground for a private trip. They were superb - very reliable, knowledgeable guides, really helpful and went the extra mile to accommodate what we were interested in seeing/learning about, as well as to find great views and lunch places. Always on time and very professional. We were 2 people in a Mercedes people carrier and travelled on a day trip from Positano to Amalfi/Ravello/Scala, on another day Pompeii (4 hours with a guide!), and on our final day Herculaneum. We also spent a day without a car in Naples, at the Archaeological Museum (3 hours with a guide). The transfer from Naples to Positano was in the same Mercedes. Many thanks to Ugo the guide, Leonardo the driver, and also Giulia the guide!
