Little Church of the West

The World Famous Little Church of the West is the most iconic Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. We have been performing wedding and vow renewal ceremonies in our historic Las Vegas Wedding Chapel for over 70 years. In addition, we offer a charming Outdoor Garden Venue. Situated amongst pine trees on one acre of beautifully landscaped grounds, the chapel is located on the South end of the Las Vegas Strip, between Mandalay Bay and the famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign.

We are from the U.K. so choosing a Las Vegas chapel to get married in, we thought was going to be quite difficult as there are so many. When we saw photographs of The Little Church of the West online we were instantly intrigued as it looks so different to other chapels. With living so far away you can’t just pop in and check out every venue before you book so it was a little daunting at first and we must’ve sent hundreds of emails asking so many questions!! But we couldn’t ask for better communication. Nicole was amazing and would reply promptly answering any queries we may have had. We also liked the location of the chapel. In between Mandalay Bay and the Las Vegas sign, it seemed more intimate compared to other chapel locations; which are more clustered together at the other end of the Las Vegas strip. As soon as we arrived in Vegas we took a walk over to the chapel to view in person. The grounds of the chapel are so pretty. Very quaint and historic. The minister who performed our ceremony was also amazing! It felt very personal and we felt very comfortable. He also gave us advice on ‘what to do next’, paperwork-wise, as a British person getting married in Vegas. He was very knowledgeable and was able to do the paperwork for us to get the wedding correctly registered in the U.K. The photographer was also lovely. She captured some very memorable photographs. I maybe would’ve liked a bit more time to look at our photographs before purchasing but we knew beforehand that we had to choose our photographs immediately after the ceremony. I probably would’ve been there hours trying to choose if I was given more time!!! So we ended up buying one of the photograph packages; which we didn’t plan on buying originally but were so glad we did. It would’ve been so hard to choose a small number of photographs that were included with our package. We know most Las Vegas wedding ceremonies are fairly short but they didn’t make us feel rushed. Being able to view the video of our ceremony online too means I can relive the memories again and again!! We thoroughly enjoyed our day and so glad we made the journey to Vegas to get married. Thank you Little Church of the West for making our day so special ????????

Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort

Built by missionaries in 1855, this fort is considered the birthplace of Las Vegas. Today, the site is managed by Nevada State Parks and contains a museum, reconstruction of the fort, and the oldest building in Nevada.

This was such an interesting place to visit and a lot of history on how Las Vegas came to be! If you go, although this is a small park compared to others, it is worth the time. First, I would suggest going into the visitor center, look around at all the history, and take the time to watch the film. It is very informative. We were there just about 2 hours, and we were able to see everything, because we took our time to appreciate the history of this fort. As you walk through, you can only imagine what it may have been like to live back in that time period, working the land and trying to make a go of it in such harsh conditions. You will see true artifacts from the fort, petroglyphs found in the area and much more. If you are interested in true history, this is a place to see. My suggestion, take your time. It may be small, but there is a lot to see, if you take the time to find it.

Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument

Reviewed By 866TaylorB - Chicago, United States

At first glance, Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument looks like a scene out of a documentary on Mars or some forbidden planet. But, be alert, visitors have a reasonable chance of discovering Ice Age fossils of Columbian mammoths or American lions that range from 7,000 to 250,000 years old. To some people, like me, that's an exciting prospect. Located at 4400 Horse Drive, 10 miles north of Las Vegas, in the Upper Las Vegas Wash, this 22,650-acre monument was established in 2014 to protect Ice Age paleontological discoveries, including mammoth tusks and bones of bison, lions, horses, camels and sloths, all of whom lived in a wooded environment, very different from the barren plains of today. Other attractions available to off-trail hikers in the wide, empty valley between the Spring Mountains and the Sheep Range are the desert landscape, spring wildflowers and occasional wildlife such as bighorn sheep, mule deer, snakes and lizards. One notable plant is the arctomecon californica, or Las Vega bearpoppy. For historians, one of the major excavation sites is near Decatur Boulevard, where a group of trenches, some up to a mile long, are evidence of the Big Dig of 1962.
