The Town Loggia was built in 1509 in this place on a small square, situated on the intersection of the the Central Street and the main transversal street. The Square of Liberty or Pjaceta was created in the same way, at the end of the latter street, inheriting the ancient Roman structural basis. The square was known as "the Dais to Our Lady" and was the place of citizens' public assemblies.
