From your fixed-wing aircraft, explore the heart of the Wandjina country and marvel at the landscapes, river systems and coast that these spirits have nurtured before being welcomed to Balanggarra Country by our local custodian guide. Day 3 At 10:00am board your scenic flight back into Kununurra where you will fly over the Argyle Diamond Mine with an option of landing and joining the ground tour of the mine with Traditional Owner Ted Hall, or continue on the flight to the Carr Boyd Ranges, Ord Stage 2, overfly Ivanhoe Crossing, before landing in Kununurra."

Fly over the spectacular pindan cliffs and turquoise waters of Roebuck Bay. Travel over the vast mangroves and wetlands of Roebuck Plains. Flying over the Fitzroy River we approach the Napier Range, mostly made from heavily eroded limestone, or karst, with the ridges composed of an ancient Devonian reef system. On arrival into Windjana airstrip meet your Aboriginal guide and jump aboard the airconditioned 4WD tour bus. Enjoy a walking tour through Windjana Gorge, learn about the spiritual signifcance of the gorge and see freshwater crocodiles basking in the sun. Explore the 750m long Tunnel Creek that runs beneath the 350-million-year old Devonian Reef System. Learn about the Bunuba people, and hear the story of Jandamarra the Aboriginal Warrior who hid out in the tunnel and led the Bunuba resistance against the oppression of the local Aboriginal people during the late 1800's. Visit the historic ruins of Lillimooloora Police Station. Stunning afternoon flight back to Broome.

You will learn about the collection and spawning of oysters in our purpose-built hatchery, appreciate the delicate operations of seeding and harvesting oysters, understanding the value of pearls and the creation of stunning jewellery. A highlight of the tour will be cruising Willie Creek’s calm azure waters and view live oysters suspended in their natural environment, amongst the spectacular native flora and fauna. Witness a pearl harvested right before your eyes. Come and experience a fascinating insight to Broome’s unique heritage at Pearl Luggers, in the heart of Broome’s ‘Chinatown’. Learn the perils of the deep and discover first hand what made the pearl divers life so hazardous and what drove so many to put their lives at risk. Was it the riches, the status or just the lure of the pearl? Through daily guided tours and enthralling stories learn of the impact pearling has had upon Northern Australia and why such a large number of nationalities were enticed, often by force, into our pearling industry. View two of the last surviving and perfectly restored pearling luggers, the vessel synonymous with Broome, surrounded by a reconstructed tidal jetty and an authentic pearlers store.
