This was one of the most incredible things that my husband and I did while in Kauai. We didn’t see another souls around as we easily hiked along the cliffs and ended up in our own private slice of heaven! The tides would flow in and out, making for a spectacular water scene & we even saw some sea turtles in the pools. Highly recommend this sight!

The Wai Koa Loop Trail is a great safe 4.5 mile hiking trail on the beautiful North Shore of Kauai. You can access this hike at Anaina Hou Community Park in Kilauea. The hike is free but is on private property, so please stop in at Anaina Hou to sign a waiver, pick up a map, and purchase water, sunblock, lunch or ono snacks to take with you on this fun-filled adventure! On the hike, you’ll pass through the Kilauea Forest and then the largest mahogany plantation in North America. Then, the trail opens up and you’ll enjoy impressive views of the Namahana Mountains. The top of this loop trail takes you to the must-see historic Stone Dam (closed for renovations). It was built in the 1880’s to support the Kilauea Sugarcane Plantation and is a great place for a picnic or to enjoy a swim. The Trail is open to the public from 8:00 am to dusk and takes between 2.5 to 4 hours. A waver must be on file at Anaina Hou before you enjoy the Trail.
been here 7 times prior, since the mid ‘90’s. best advise: start early, around 10am. the reason i mention this is that parts of the trail is sunny n very hot. don’t forget to check in at the mini golf place or the trail hut, if it is open. this is for liability reasons, due to the fact that the trail is on private farming property. you will see beautiful views of the mountains, horses, cattle, ponds, and of course farming structures. not for those who want a challenge. this is for a quiet, meditative walk (that one gets away from the ‘trail’ crowds”-just to put it....calming:) they did some diversions, which by the way, are well done, due to the flood of April 2018. the dam area is closed n being repaired but the “detour paths” are fine. what a delight to take a walk/stroll among 86,000 mahogany trees, the largest of these forests in the USA n one of the largest in the world. terrain is flat except for the first 10 minutes but very easy. i highly recommend the site:) PS make sure you have water with you, as it is a 4 mile hike n takes about 2 hrs-leisurely. i wouldn’t recommend flip-flops. ALOHA~

Gorgeous beach, relaxing waves, ugly ghost crabs, pretty reefs. Loved it. Standing in the exact area where the SS MINNOW was beached, also the day JFK was shot, was chilling. Try to imagine the pilot was shot here before there was any real estate, with different actors playing GINGER, MARY ANN and the PROFESSOR. You can see this beach in the unaired pilot MAROONED. Also in the first episode TWO ON A RAFT.
