Roley Pool Reserve

Reviewed By PaulS803 - Adelaide, Australia

Roley Pool Reserve is a delightful little place off the beaten track, and one which the locals would probably like to keep secret. There is a loop walk which you could co plate in fifteen minutes, but you might like to take an hour or more. The reserve lies along the upper Canning River, and is accessed from the Soldiers Road Bridge. There are two car parks. The track from the Northern car park is really a fire track, so the access is relatively easy, but the scenery is less attractive. The track leads to a place where the stream forms pools in a rounded rock setting with bush surrounds and tinkling little falls. There is then a water crossing which was fine in January, but might be hazardous when the flow is greater. The southern track is much more interesting, passing past rocky cliffs and meandering close to the stream. This is a lovely place to take a picnic, or simply to enjoy.

Caversham Wildlife Park

Reviewed By bcripps1 - Cheltenham, United Kingdom

My wife and I visited Caversham as part of a day tour around the Perth area. As it was an organised tour, we experienced several supervised encounters as part of our visit. Perhaps the best was the time spent in the large kangaroo enclosure, with a a great number of very friendly and relaxed kangaroos, who we were able to feed. Our visit also included other animal encounters, including koalas and a farming presentation. Caversham is a beautiful, spacious, well laid out and maintained park with well cared for animals in spacious, natural enclosures. We only had about two hours here, but could easily have spent at least half a day to thoroughly explore and enjoy this beautiful park. Don't rush your visit - allow plenty of time!

Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park

Reviewed By Q7840EUdanl - Bunbury, Australia

We didn't have any young ones with us but still appreciated and enjoyed sections of this area, particularly the flora and the natural bushland area. We entered from May Drive, our map indicating the public zone and the attractions and activities available. The kiddies can get real dirty and then clean off by wading through the water. They can build cubbies and test their skills in rock and rope climbing. For some reason the advertising literature points out that it is not a playground or picnic area, well, could have fooled us with some of the activities. The map also identifies the 'Education" area, accessible only by booking as a group. Closed Mondays.

Paruna Sanctuary

Reviewed By Bornean - Perth, Australia

As a bushwalking group, we rate the Numbat Trail our favorite. It's hard to do, especially in temperatures reaching 26°, but we started at 7:30 am the second time 14 of us did it. The $10 payment goes towards a good cause. We came across Michelle who was maintaining the tracks. The views, the workout, the wildflowers - they made the visit worthwhile!

At first the wonderland of plants was quite overwhelming, but with the help of a wonderfully knowledgeable staff member we learned a lot about native plants and found what our garden needs. So much to consider - light and shade, sand or soil, etc. Good job the native plants are hardy - they need to be, with us!

Fish Hook Bay

Reviewed By KylieIsTravelling - Perth, Australia

Fish Hook Bay is the area on the south western tip of the island, to the east of West End Boardwalk and Cape Vlamingh (TripAdvisor currently has the incorrect location). This little bay has some fantastic scenery here and is well worth the walk along the boardwalk as well as the trails closer to the bay to get some great photos. Easily accessible by bus, bike or the walking trails on the south western end of the island.
