After two very ordinary tasting experiences at other big wineries we were elevated by the quality wines, the cellar door design and the delightful staff member. Highly recommended- we joined the wine club and look forward to lots of that gorgeous rose!

Seppelt

Seppelt has been at the forefront of Australian winemaking since 1851. Through a tradition of expert winemaking and a passion for innovation, we are renowned for producing elegant table and sparkling wines from an exceptional collection of vineyards. Open seven days a week, experience the beauty of country Victoria at our historic cellar door for a tasting or to purchase wine, coffee, a light lunch or cheese platter, and step back in time underground with a tour of our heritage-listed cellars, “The Drives” – first excavated in 1868 and the longest in the southern hemisphere.

We came here to do the underground tour and really enjoyed it. We had rung ahead to book which was lucky as they were only running a couple of tours that day. The tour ran for about an hour and was $15 each including some wine tasting at the end. It was really well run and really interesting. I highly recommend this tour - just remember to book so that you are not disappointed.

Beautiful space with stunning scenery looking out to the vineyard. We arranged a booking the day prior, to walk in to a beautiful table set up for a self guided wine tasting. We did not taste a wine we did not like! My partner is not a white wine drinker yet liked the the Riesling ! Our stand out favourite was the GST which we purchased alongside the Five Ducks Chilli Jam that was on the cheese platter, yum! The cheese and dip platters were a great compliment to the wines. Highly recommended to stop by and enjoy!

Best's Wines Great Western

Founded in 1866 in the Great Western wine region of Victoria, Best’s Great Western is one of Australia’s oldest continuously family owned and operated wineries. Best’s is known to have some of the oldest vines in Australia and produces extraordinary wines with great longevity. Today, Best's Great Western draws from three vineyards, Concongella, St Andrew's, Salvation Hills at Rhymney and the newest addition Sugarloaf Creek. Henry Best’s original Nursery Block, containing over forty different varieties, and his old Shiraz and Pinot vineyards are among Australia’s most valuable viticultural resources. These are three important factors in the style and quality of Best's Great Western wines. They are elegant, mid-weight wines of great intensity and balance. Like all classic long-lived wines, age often reveals their greatest finesse. At national and international wine shows, Best's consistently garners awards and accolades.

This winery is worth going too and spending a little time looking at their cellars which are open to visitors. Our visit on day 1 was great and had the wonderful Jade guiding us through a range of wines. We again arrived back the next day on a tour with Grampians Helicopters, again the wonderful Jade was there and took us on a guided tour this time and spent extensive time and patience going through wines while we had a fantastic picnic lunch on their outdoor tables. Definitely worth going too and enjoying the extensive knowledge of their great staff. Thanks again for the BEST experience.
