Monument Mountain

Ascend this popular peak, which once drew 19th-century literary giants, and from its summit gaze across the spectacular landscapes of the Housatonic River Valley.

Great hike, did the loop starting with the steep part in the beginning then did the summit connector in the middle and ended with the Indian head trail. A little over 3 miles total. Started early to beat the crowds and glad we did because the parking lot was overflowing by the time we finished. The views from the summit were very nice! Trail was very clean, a little rocky so watch your step.

Ski Butternut

Reviewed By viganiko - Monterey, United States

Mainly a learning mountain with a few black runs. The snow is always well groomed and fresh snow making is in progress as soon as weather allows. It can get icy by the end of the day on heavy trafficked parts of the runs. instructors and race team programs. Lines tend to get long during the weekends.

Lake Mansfield

It was a really nice spot with small beach, grass with some tables and stand grills and two portable toilets. The area was small but really nice with some trees for shade. There was a good number of parking spots. Lifeguards on duty when I was there. The staff were limiting the number of people there at once and also limiting your time for two hours (due to COVID-19), which I really appreciated.

Always stop here when in the area, if only to enjoy the beautiful abundance and selection of wonderful plant material. Always influenced by a different color of a New England native plant and leave with three of the plant. Each year I am rewarded by the beautiful plants reminding me of Windy Hill Farms and the area !!!
