Things to do in Granada, Andalucia: The Best Private Tours

October 21, 2021 Harland Bartelt

The Alhambra citadel of Granada is one of the most famous buildings in Spain: a Moorish fortress with grand archways and delicate ornamental mosaics. Step backwards in time as you wind through the ascending cobblestone streets of Albayzin. You’ll be rewarded with beautiful views from the Mirador San Nicolas. Granada’s nightlife is vibrant and varied, thanks in part to its student population. Hit the bars of Calle Elvira or, for a quieter outing, the traditional tea rooms of La Calle de Las Teterias.

This tour is focused mostly on christian dominion over the Granada city in XVI century, when it was conquered by the Catholic Kings from the last muslim dynasty who ruled in Granada. The Cathedral and the Royal Chapel were constructed to underline the victory of the new rulers and to be a significant representation of christianity in Granada. Today theese are one of the main touristic attractions of the city, both are marvellous examples of architecture that contain valuable pieces of art from medieval ages, like flemish paintings or german sculptures, just to mention few. The Royal Chapel additionally stands out as the final resting place for Queen Isabella and her husband king Ferdinand, whose glory is still remembered vividly in Spain.

Inclusions: The price of entrance tickets to the Cathedral and to the Royal Chapel are included.

Exclusions: Personal expenses, like drinks or snacks are excluded.

Our Guide Gosia was simply amazing. She was incredibly knowledgeable, her English is fantastic and she has a lovely personality. She gave us all kinds of little gems of history that we would never have gotten from someone else. We spent almost 4 hrs at the Alhambra and gardens and there wasn't a moment of boredom or repetition as she made it all so interesting, I highly recommend Andagra Tourism and Gosia. Well worth every penny,

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! QR code Tickets from MyTopTour are not valid when you want to enter and visit Alhambra. Mytoptour did send us tickets but not valid for the Alhambra’s entrance staff and technology. So we had to call them 5x to finally get an answer and the final official PDF tickets. On the phone, they pretend to only speak spanish and not English which is a shame for a travel company, just to avoid to help tourists in case of trouble. Because of the false tickets, we missed the slot to visit the palace and had to wait 1h30... Price is a full scam, they sell tickets with audio guide for 32€ while on Alhambra’s official website you can have the exact same access and audioguide for 21€ per person. They charge you 11€ for no reason and don’t refund when you discover the cheat!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND MY TOP TOUR!!! AVOID THIS COMPANY OR YOU WILL HAVE A BAD EXPÉRIENCE AT ALHAMBRA

We took the sunset walking tour with Maria. It was a wonderful walking tour of Albaycin and Sacromonte areas in Granada. Maria was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the City and these unique neighborhoods also quite friendly, courteous and helpful. The tour lasted a little over three hours with a short break for some refreshments. The tour was great and I would highly recommend it. Beautiful views of Granada at night and the Sierra Nevada mountains. Depending on your age and fitness climbing the stairs could be a bit difficult, but the tour was well worth it
