Things to do in Granada, Andalucia: The Best Gear Rentals

February 11, 2022 Ying Subia

The Alhambra citadel of Granada is one of the most famous buildings in Spain: a Moorish fortress with grand archways and delicate ornamental mosaics. Step backwards in time as you wind through the ascending cobblestone streets of Albayzin. You’ll be rewarded with beautiful views from the Mirador San Nicolas. Granada’s nightlife is vibrant and varied, thanks in part to its student population. Hit the bars of Calle Elvira or, for a quieter outing, the traditional tea rooms of La Calle de Las Teterias.

Cycle Sierra Nevada

Reviewed By Smivies

Traveling solo, I signed up for a week of Cycle Sierra Nevada's training camps that are run from October to March (1st week of October for me). What a great experience! Airport transfers to and from Malaga were straightforward, bike rental was outstanding (BMC RoadMachine w/Di2 Ultegra & carbon wheels). Cormac's team (Luka & Nolan) got my rental bike prepared with correct measurements and installed my own saddle for the upcoming week. After riding, we could leave our bikes in the shop (avoid the inconvenience of taking them up to the apartment) and Cormac's team would check them over as needed before the next day's ride. Accommodations are in furnished apartments up the hill from the shop. Ours was spartan but with all the essentials including a washer. Unless you are traveling with your partner or really close friend...upgrading to the single supplement gets you your own bedroom in the apartments. Small grocer in the village to stock up on all your food needs. Guided rides every day on amazing roads! Cormac's team ride at your speed (solid 'no-drop' service) and will even adjust routes if you want to do more or less on the day (did my first 3100m/10000' ride with Luka while Cormac accompanied others on the 'shorter' route). Cafe stops for snacks or lunch as needed. In the evenings, Cormac would join us for dinner and take us to great little restaurants in neighbouring towns and villages including trips to the beach. On off days (eg. Wednesday), you're free to do your own exploring either on or off bike. Very regular buses (ALSA) depart the village for either the beach (20k south) or Granada (50k north). No need to rent a car....
