We enjoyed an tour of the chateau and winery and our guide was very pleasant and informative. At the end there was a tasting of three of the wines with detailed comments and guidance from our guide. We then went into the grounds for a splendid picnic lunch provided by the chateau. The bread, cheeses and meats were all sourced locally and were excellent. A half bottle of chateau wine accompanied the meal and fresh coffee was brought out to us at the end of our meal. It was a lovely relaxing visit - we would definitely recommend it.

Chateau d'Abzac

This Château-Palace is a must for anyone visiting this area of France. The history is so interesting! From the time period it was built as a fortress, to the various renovations as the need for a fortress changed to the unique decorations by Vollet le Duc to the impeccable restoration they are still working on! Sebastian was so knowledgeable, informative and droll. His insights were interesting! Hope to get back here someday.
