This place is like a small, hidden paradise on earth. We planned to stay 3 nights and extended it to 4, because we loved it! Good place to calm down, do Yoga and enjoy life. Elke is a really good Yoga teacher and offers not only Hatha Yoga and Meditation in the morning but also Aerial Yoga (we really recommend it), Yin Yoga on the rooftop in the evening (with a stunning sunset and view of the stars) and many others. The Yoga- Room has a wonderful view to the garden with the sound of (morning) birds- like in a fairtale. Elke is amazing. She helped us with all our wishes and concerns during our stay. The place it located near Galle, surrounded by tea and the jungle. You can see a lot of birds, at night bats and sometimes even monkeys from the jungle. The food was extraordinary delicious- not only a large selection of continental breaktfast but also sri lankian specials. The staff was really pleasant, friendly and accommodating, the room was comfortable and felt like home. The whole place is made with love and we instantly felt good there and never wanted to leave. We will definitely come again – for Yoga, good food and to calm down and let the good vibes touching our souls.

Came to yoga classes here several times. And liked all of them. 1. Google maps may lead you to wrong place... Make sure you go to a spot near Vibration. It is actually across the Road from Funky de bar, pink gate between two Restaurants: Bambini's and Millenium, you go to the inner yard and take stairs to 3rd floor. 1000 Rs per person, Class is around 90 mins. 2. At 4 p.m. Class is run by Parsi. Very nice guy, attentive to participants, offering help with some asanas (this fits better for beginners because Parsi is looking after you). 3. At 8:30 a.m. Class is run by Lyndon. This is more of an advanced Class though the Flow of asanas is the same. He is not correcting the participants but you get more of philosophical obsrevation along with the practice. Anyway you May try either of classes. If you have regular yoga practice experience you will be amazed and will take the Best of it.

Yoga sessions with Upali in the beautiful dome are great! The dome itself is surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden. The inside is well decorated and clean. Upali has a beautiful style of teaching. He motivates without pushing and helps you to go deeper into the postures. My first class with him has been an accidental private class which was amazing. Upalis soozing voice floats you through the session. A must do if you are up for some yoga in the morning!

Sri Yoga Shala

A holistic outdoor retreat space for Yoga, Meditation, Bodywork, Arts and Creativity.

Reviewed By ryankerrie - Sydney, Australia

I visited Sri Yoga Shala a couple of times during a recent trip to Galle and it was a lovely experience. As a complete beginner at yoga, I was heartened by the instructor Laurence explaining clearly what to do, how to do it and she gave the harder options for those that were up to it. She also made adjustments so that we were doing everything correctly .... this is an instructor who cares about her practice! The studio is set in jungle and rice paddy and classes are done accompanied with the sounds of birds and monkeys in the trees. The facilities are great and after class you can relax by the pool and enjoy drinks or a meal at the cafe. The rice and curry is excellent and I rate it as one of the most memorable meals on my last trip! Highly recommend that you stay on after class and enjoy the facilities. It's so beautiful :)
