Hadjiantonas Winery

Mixing art and science for top quality wines Dynamic and innovative are definitely two words that describe Hadjiantonas Winery which is one of the wineries at the forefront of the new generation of Cypriot wines. Hadjiantonas Winery is much more than a winery it is a wonderful and memorable experience. The winery stands in rolling countryside on the edge of Parekklisia, just 20 minutes from Limassol, in a magnificent three storey building. The winery itself is on the ground level with a sizeable temperature-controlled cellar and spacious wine-tasting area on the lower level. On the third floor with panoramic views there is a visitor centre, wine tasting area with coffee where visitors can relax over a cheese platter and a glass of wine. This is already proving to be the ideal setting for private family and corporate parties, weddings and christenings. This is the 10 years anniversary of the winery, it has achieved so much with a collection of 32 awards and the name Domaine Hadjiantonas is synonymous with the highest quality. The winery is new, exciting and working with the latest equipment and techniques which are carefully interwoven with the tradition and love of winemaking that Theodoros Hadjiantonas inherited from his grandfather, a highly respected winemaker in Pera Pedhi. As well as making great wines from the indigenous grape varieties, the winery makes superb wines from the imported grape varieties such as Shiraz, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot with wonderful mellowed tastes gained as the grapes mature in the Cyprus sunshine.

This was the second visit by my wife to Cyprus we stayed at the Princess Beach Hotel, Larnaca on the occasion of the twelfth anniversary of our engagement. The best trip out we had was to The Vouni Panaya Winery in the Pathos Forest which was outstanding for its wine and hospitality. The sunny 90min drive from Lanaca through the mountains is a joy, with better roads than I have at home in the countryside of Gloucestershire, England. Paphos is in the west of Cyprus where the mountains meet the sea, it has several sites relating to the Goddess Aphrodite, whose mythical birthplace was at Old Paphos. Pathos as an area is definitely worth a visit, and you must go to this fabulous winery which is in a stunning location and offers a great wine tasting and tour.

We came across this winery casually and we decided to enter to buy some wine. We stayed there at the end more than one hour! Even if we came on Thursday, which is not a day of visits, the owner showed us everything and we did a private tour of the vinery. He was really nice and friendly and he also told us a lot about the history and culture of Cyprus. We also tasted some of his wines, which actually also won many prizes in Europe and they were so tasty, that we bought 3 bottles. The friendly and cozy atmosphere of this winery makes everything even better. Moreover the panoramic view from the winery is so beautiful! We can definitely recommend it!
