Home to some of the best beaches in America, Clearwater is a great family beach destination. Sure, it’s in Florida, but it’s not Giant Rodent Florida (a.k.a. Orlando) or Crazy Spring Break Florida (a.k.a. Fort Lauderdale). Rather, it’s Calm, Old-Fashioned Florida… which is something worth seeing. Oh, and the weather’s outstanding.

A genuine part of Clearwater's history for 85 years. Broadway caliber community theatre open September through July, eight main-stage productions and four Broadway Concerts. Musicals $26, Non-musicals $21, Broadway Concerts $15. Beautiful waterfront location on Old Clearwater Bay. Handicap friendly, 190 seats and plenty of free parking.
This was the first musical we have seen at Francis Wilson Playhouse. The two lead actors had excellent voices and the entire cast did a great job. We thoroughly enjoyed the performance, as did everyone in the sold-out audience. Hard to believe this theater is in its 90th season, 85 years at this location. We are thinking about getting season tickets for next season. Wonderful venue! No wonder they sell out even without advertising.

We attended Kathleen Madigan's comedy performance on November 17, 2018, and found this to be a marvelous, beautiful experience. From the Tiffany-style fixtures in the lobby to the small, intimate seating inside, it was a great evening. We had very nice seats close to the stage but honestly there didn't appear to be a bad seat in the house. The sound system was crystal-clear and easy to hear. I noted that there are wheel-chair accessible spots at the end of some rows. The ushers are very helpful and professional. In the event that you need to step into the lobby during a performance there are TV's offering live feed of the performers. All 4 of us were impressed with Capitol Theater and would certainly attend other events here.

First time at this theatre I was not expecting much but I was really impressed. First you are greeted by the owner at the door - super gracious and welcoming. The food was really great . Salad bar with many choices - great hot buffet with several choices and a fantastic dessert table . They also have a bar for some adult beverages ( at very reasonable prices). The show was super professional and the set and the actors were very top notch. The buffet and show cost like $36.00 ( cash or check only - pay at the door . )Everyone in the packed audience really enjoyed it - this is the best deal in town !!!

Constructed and established in 1921 as the Capitol Theatre, this classic structure, is one of the oldest operating theatres in the state of Florida. The Capitol Theatre is now the Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre.
The Capitol theater in Clearwater is a delightful place to see a show. Even the balcony seats are great. Parking has not been an issue.

Ruth Eckerd Hall's near perfect acoustics have received rave reviews from artists, technicians and audience members since opening in 1983. Combined with state of the art equipment, comfortable amenities and world class entertainment, it's no wonder that it has been recognized as one of Tampa Bay's best concert halls numerous times as well as a finalist for Pollstar's Theater of the Year twice. In 2003, the Hall's audience chamber received a complete refurbishment, its 2,180 seats were reconfigured to accommodate more patrons with disabilities, and lobby and restrooms were expanded.Ruth Eckerd Hall has continental-style seating. Almost every patron prizes a center seat and continental-style provides the maximum possible. There are no support columns, no obstructed views. Seating is sloped and staggered. For safety and comfort, the aisle space is wider than traditional layouts; entry and exit can be made while patrons remain seated. There are 14 sets of double doors leading out from the audience chamber. With this configuration, a full house can be cleared in a matter of minutes.Among the original community leaders who conceptualized building a performing arts center this side of Tampa Bay, was Jack Eckerd. During construction, Mr. Eckerd designated a significant contribution as a birthday gift to his beloved wife, Ruth, making the dream a reality. The Hall proudly bears her name.
We had the opportunity to see Gladys Knight show in this beautiful concert hall. Fantastic management. Pre show band was awesome. Very friendly staff. Comfortable and very enjoyable seat options in entire hall. Will return for sure.
