Things to do in Charleston, South Carolina (SC): The Best Food & Drink

November 6, 2021 Christa Meece

Historic Charleston is bursting with Southern charm and hospitality. The city feels a bit like it’s suspended in time, thanks to its antebellum architecture and surrounding plantation landscapes. Take in incredible views of the Battery and the French Quarter as you stroll the Waterfront Park, then become inspired by the cultivated beauty of the gardens at Middleton Place. At night, try a ghost tour for an introduction to the spooky side of the city.

Charles Towne Fermentory

We checked to see what breweries are in Charleston and then checked their beer ratings on untapped. After seeing their high ratings we knew we had to visit. We met Adam the brew-master and were blown away by his quality of beers. We spent more time there than we had planned but the beers were so good we had to try more and different ones. We also purchased cans and crowlers to go which we traveled home with. If you are a craft beer lover you MUST visit Charles Towne Fermentory. Do not miss them!!!

Farm to Table Experience - Charleston Culinary Tours

This 3 hour tour showcases some of Charleston’s best Chefs and Charleston’s award-winning farmer’s market, which was nationally ranked by Travel and Leisure Magazine. Starting at the corner of Meeting and John Streets at the fountain near the Charleston Visitor Center, you will meet your tour guide and that day’s participating Chef, who will lead the group to the farmer’s market to pick out the freshest ingredients the market has to offer. After you and your Chef pick out ingredients and you explore the market, your guide will take the group on a walking tour for approximately 45 minutes. Meanwhile, the Chef will prepare a multi-course meal utilizing the ingredients just purchased at the market, for a true farm-to-table experience. The Farm-to-Table Experience is available when the Charleston Farmer’s Market is open, on Saturdays from mid-April through mid-December.
