This a Jewish Heritage walking tour in Thessaloniki's city centre, where the main Jewish community used to live and work for centuries. Although not much of the old buildings is nowadays preserved in this neighbourhood, due to the terrible fire of 1917 and the World War II distructions, the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki has tried to show and renovate the main sites related to the Jewish Heritage. This tour can be done in the mornings only, when the sites are open until 14.00 - not on Saturdays. A longer tour can also be arranged out of the city centre upon request by private transportation to see the east-side of the city with the old Jewish villas of the early 20th century, the new Jewish cemetery on the west-end and also the old railway station, known for the Holocaust deportation of 50.000 Jews by the Nazis by trains.

Inclusions: Private guided tour fees for this experience

Exclusions: No meals or drinks are included, Private transportation, No entrance fees for the Jewish Museum and synagogues

We booked this tour months in advance. We were then contacted by this company and told in order to go we will have to pay an additional $170 Euros in cash when we got there to pay for transportation. We agreed but asked that this tour be very informative about Alexander the Great and then they canceled the tour. So we never ended up going with this company. I guess they didn’t expect to give an informative tour.

Greece is back in force with Ammon Express. Reasonable prices ,excellent service and informative high quality guides. The trip to Meteora is long and requires outstanding driving skills. Dimitri displayed them together with vast knowledge, insight and healthy humor. The duration of the trip becomes really irrelevant in such pleasant company. Meteora is an international gem that is worth every effort. The trip was well planned in advance so that we could leisurely visit 3 monasteries, enjoy lunch and rest in between. Highly recommended. Corona wise, we felt safe all the way and the rules were enforced rigorously.

The excavation by Professor Manolis Andronikos and his associates under the Great Tumulus of Vergina village in Imathia, Central Macedonia in 1977 brought to light the one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century in Greece. Today’s Vergina (Ancient Aigai), in the foothills of Mt. Pieria, was the first capital of ancient kingdom of Macedonia, called Aigai. The site of the Royal Tombs under a modern roof hosts the main excavation, as well as an exhibition of the major finds from the burials. It is protected by UNESCO as world cultural heritage and comprises a unique discovery of an enormous universal impact. In the same area, inhabited continuously since the 3rd millennium BC, are also the ruins of an acropolis, palace, theatre, shrines and private buildings, and hundreds of common graves of an extensive necropolis of the ancient city of Aigai until Roman times. A perfect way to see where Alexander the Great was born in this one day trip of ours.
