Things to do in Bryce Canyon National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park: The Best Lookouts

January 5, 2022 Frederic Celentano

Pink cliffs, dramatic hoodoos and towering red and yellow spires make Bryce Canyon a geological wonder. While its founder, Ebenezer Bryce, thought that the canyon was just "a helluva place to lose a cow," visitors today will appreciate the panoramas, the flora and fauna and the limestone formations. Hike on the mile-long Bristlecone Loop or on the 22-plus mile Under the Rim trail. With 50 miles of trails, mountain biking, horseback riding and star talks, Bryce is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise.

Stunning views and each is different from each view point. Take the time to stop inhale the fresh mountain air, you will be at about 7,000 feet so if your not in shape you will get out of breath walking around.

Sitting at one end of the Rim Walk, and a short walk from Bryce Canyon Lodge, this is a popular spot for viewing the sunrise. It is also the trailhead for the Queen’s Garden Trail leading down into the hoodoos.

The aptly-named Inspiration Point offers perhaps the single best view of the Bryce amphitheater. Definitely worth a stop during any trip to the park!

Rainbow Point

Scenic overlook in Bruce Canyon National Park.

We were fortunate to take the last Park shuttle tour of the season (Sun. afternoon, 10-20-19). Our driver/narrator was friendly, amusing and informative; a real asset, in enhancing the Park experience. We stopped at several points, among which was Rainbow. We've given up trying to find words to describe the impact of seeing these views. Stunning, amazing, jaw-dropping, exquisite, magnificent, breathtaking, etc.....nothing seems sufficient. Once one experiences the views, they speak to each of us for themselves.

As others have suggested, if one is doing the scenic drive, come straight here; then hit all the viewing points on the way back. That way, one avoids crossing traffic when entering and exiting each pull off; which is much easier, and safer. This then becomes the first of numerous viewing points, where words will become inadequate to describe the impact.

The panoramic view you get at Farview is amazing. Instead of the Hoodoos drawing all of your attention like over at Bryce Point, the colorful distant peaks are what you see. This pull off is not to be missed.

Fairyland Point

As this is another view point along the Rim Trail---it provides awesome looks of the amphitheater. You can drive right up to the point....so only need to walk a few steps to enjoy the views. This is the only point that you can reach without going into the park......so it's Free if you are just driving thru. They do not post signage as they want you to buy a park pass first......but just ask for directions........:)

Paria View

Reviewed By RICART75 - Peru, United States

The suprising part for us is that this viewing point is so far down the list of TA things to do in the Park. We found the views here as wonderously indescribable as many other points; and with somewhat easier paved access. Less crowded than other areas, this was a very pleasurable place to explore. And, as usual in this Park, we found words inadequate to describe the viewing impact.
