Witches Falls Winery

Tamborine Mountain’s only 'working' winery. Sourcing our fruit from Ballandean in The Granite Belt QLD, producing 'unique, exceptional wine'

Reviewed By scottmcg65 - Brisbane, Australia

This small boutique winery is relaxing contemporary and Sienna our host for the Wine tasting was knowledgeable friendly and easy to chat to.. The wild fermented chardonnay has long been one of my favourite queensland whites and the 2018 vintage is no exception... Queensland wines are getting better and better every year.. So to those of you who turn up your nose at our wines I say give them a chance.... If you are visiting Tamborine Mountain then a trip to Witches Falls is a must....

Woongooroo Estate

Woongooroo Estate is a family owned vineyard and Cellardoor Cafe in the glorious Somerset Valleys Wine Region just 1 hour from Brisbane. Our specialty is wine and cheese matching for which bookings can be made.

Decided to have a weekend in Kilcoy and support the local businesses after a terrible drought period. Love visiting local wineries so Woongooroo Estate was our first 'port of call' and we weren't disappointed. Arrived before lunch and was greeted by Phil and Gail. Started with the wine tasting which we thoroughly enjoyed and for lunch we shared a Mediterranean platter for two which consisted of various cheeses, meats, olives, bread etc. Locally produced and fresh. Had a wonderful bottle of Somerset Red (Merlot and Shiraz) served chill with our lunch. No - we didn't drink it all as I still had to drive to Kilcoy but enjoyed the rest later. A great place to visit and friendly hosts.

I visited this winery quite a while back. Kilcoy is full of good wineries, with good wines coming from each and every one of them and this winery is no exception, nestled away on Winya Rd this is another winery to stop into if you are up for a winery tour just as good as the Barossa or the Hunter but done the Qld way.

So glad we stopped by - an incredible selection of liquors and fortified spirits ranging from small 300ml to 2l bottles. We were served by a friendly lady who offered us samples. Our curiosity was spiked by the ginger rum liqueur and the hot chilli fortified wine - both delicious and currently nestled amongst our baggage for the trip home.

We received the Winery Tour and Lunch as a gift and found the whole experience well exceeded our expectations. We have been on winery tours before but this was definitely the best we have had. Our guide, Steve, was very knowledgeable and his presentation was terrific, during both the tour and the wine tasting. We felt we learned a lot. Lunch outdoors on the Tuscan Terrace was wonderful even though it was quite a hot day. The antipasto platter, the wines and the mains were delicious. We'd be keen to go back again.

We are an award winning vineyard situated in Purga; 40 minutes from Brisbane CBD and 15 minutes from Ipswich. The grapevines were planted in 1984. We have 8 varieties of grapes: Shiraz, Grenache, Nebbiolo, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Marsanne, Rousanne and Viognier. We also planted 1000 lavenders earlier this year, so hopefully by the end of the year we will have lots beautiful French lavenders. We are open Friday to Sunday for wine tasting and we have cheese platters available. Currently there is no restaurant but it is our next project. We also have a house for holiday accommodation. For more information, visit airbnb and search accommodation in Purga. Our vineyard is also available for weddings and functions venue hire.
