Things to do in Barcelona, Catalonia: The Best Fun Activities & Games

August 24, 2021 Leonarda Pillsbury

Barcelona feels a bit surreal – appropriate, since Salvador Dali spent time here and Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí designed several of the city’s buildings. Stepping into Gaudí’s Church of the Sacred Family is a bit like falling through the looking glass - a journey that you can continue with a visit to Park Güell. Sip sangria at a sidewalk café in Las Ramblas while watching flamboyant street performers, then create your own moveable feast by floating from tapas bar to tapas bar.

Suara Foundation Cat House

The social and physical headquarters of the foundation is located in el El Born (Ciutat Vella) a neighbourhood of Barcelona. Conceived as a meeting point for activities related to the feline world. This is a unique space in the world that all cat lovers should know. Not only you can play with the cats, but the main purpose is to make you fall in love with them... and adopt one. It was designed to be a foster house, the time they stay in the cat house helps their adaptation to live in a house before they find their home. * Our main purpose is to ensure the physical and emotional condition of the cats and that's why we have limited days to visit, very controlled hours and capacity. You can come visit us Wednesday and Thursday afternoon (6pm to 8.30pm), Friday (3.30pm to 8.30 pm) and Saturday all day and enjoy the space and our cats. Come and meet us!

As someone who frequently visits Barcelona, I have always seen the Suara Foundation but never stepped foot inside or known their mission. Visiting with a close group of friends, Ivan and his team welcomed us with open arms to meet the incredible kitties and spend time with them. I have never visited a rescue foundation that is so well cared for, creative, and beautiful may I add. Their downstairs hosts one of the most extensive clothing niches I have ever seen, surrounding the theme around cats and music- could it get any better? The funds from those sales go towards the foundation, and all the clothing is ethically sourced with top quality material. We had such an amazing experience at the Suara Foundation!

BarceLocked

BarceLocked is a real-life escape game in the old heart of Barcelona. A truly fascinating story with George Orwell (Big Brother is Watching You!) and Antoni Gaudí (Sagrada Familia) as the key elements. The room is very spacious and breathes authenticity. The puzzles are intriguing and designed with a lot of care. It holds a lot of surprising elements and we guarantee it is unlike any escape room you have seen before!

We have done many escape rooms around Europe. We really enjoy this escape room which we completed. I would recommend as something different to do in Barcelona. A lot of the clues where new to the usuals ones you see on the escape rooms which made it more fun.

Escape room is a new type of modern entertainment! Participants have 60 minutes to complete the challenge... The main goal is to unravel the mystery of Komnata and find the way out... It’s like a Hollywood blockbuster, except that you are the star! "Komnata" is an international project hosted in Europe, US and Russia, started in 2014.
