Chemin de Stevenson

Reviewed By sarahfJ4475OT - Reno, United States

My husband and I enjoyed a 10 day self-guided walking trip through the Cevennes last fall - most of the trail we walked was on the Stevenson trail, with a few exceptions, as planned by Sherpa Expeditions. We thoroughly enjoyed this trip and the beauty of the Cevennes area. We found some of the walking days too long for us, but found it easy to recruit the luggage transfer service to help take us a portion of the way on the very long days. That's just a "hint" to those of you out there who may be scared away by long mileage - you can cut some days shorter and still have a wonderful time. There were so many fun adventures, from asking for "the keys to the castle" at Hotel du Manoir in Arlempdes (in french, mind you!) to my favorite day getting transport part of the walk to Pont de Montvert and then walking in the fog and sleet at the top of the mountain and down to Florac, I believe. What amazing countryside! This was our 2nd year enjoying a self-guided walking trip in France and we will be back - we are hooked! Next we plan to do the full Le Puy Camino (to St Jean de Pied de Port) and look forward to an even longer trek.
