The "Mother of Cities" was founded in 1537, and declared independence from Spain in 1811. The charming historic section can be explored on foot. The Government Palace is a stunning piece of architecture and is worth viewing from front and back. The guards can get a bit funny if you get too close but otherwise it is worth a visit

If outside you rest impressive with the arquitectura’s beautiful, the best and nicest building in Assuncion, inside is a real Palace
