My wife and I were lucky to have visited the impressive San Juan Bautista church in Arucas in December when the nativity scene was on display. The church is very imposing and stands proud over the town as you approach. Although it looks really old, it's actually quite a modern construction, but done in a gothic style that suggests it is centuries old. We had around 30 minutes inside the church as part of a full day cruise ship excursion and it was lovely to see it from the inside. The huge nativity scene was a sight to behold, really impressive, with some moving parts too. Apart from the nativity scene the grand looking chandelier was also impressive. If you are visiting Gran Canaria this church is well worth checking out.

A beautifully unexpected palace, free to visit, clean and romantic. There is a fine old Drago Tree in the courtyard, suitable for photos; and a cheerful canary bird singing in the shade.
