Shama has made a beautiful place, the whole place is filled with lots and lots of plants. Rooms that are filled with sunlight and washroom that let the nature in. A complete nature paradise. Pramod makes the yummiest food, fan of his parathas and coffee. He is a very patient caretaker who took good care of us. Yako and Sophie are two beautiful dogs of Shama who keeps the fun alive in the property, very very friendly dogs. A cafe is right in front of home that offers access to the beach, at no cost. So, just few miles away from the beach. if you are looking for a homelike stay at Varkala, that is the place for you!

Amazing stay at Ayur villa
Reviewed By NJain27We stayed here for 2 nights, booked 3 rooms. The rooms were SO beautiful, especially the bathrooms. Everything was clean and beautifully kept. The beds were extremely comfortable. Vishnu took really good care of us, taking care of all our requests - as much as possible. He was very polite and attentive, we really enjoyed our stay specifically because of Vishnu. We also used the pool one of the days - it's a lot of fun and although it looks small-ish, we managed to spend a couple hours there. The breakfast was very good, with fruits, idli, putu, juices and what not. We were not able to get massages here though - schedules didn't work out. Highly recommend this place, one of a kind experience!

Comfortable rural retreat in South Kerala
Reviewed By guiri2020We stayed for 4 nights in this superb homestay which is situated in a lovely spot about 1 hours journey from Trivandrum. The accommodation is of a very high standard - comfortable beds, air con, food available, good bathroom and terrace looking over a wonderful garden with a small lake. The family who run the place are delightful, very helpful and welcoming. There are walks you can take from the property into the surrounding hills, and with a well run elephant sanctuary nearby as well as delightful drives into the surrounding hills, there is plenty to do. We were there at the hotter season so we didn’t hike, but we enjoyed the shaded garden and short walks into the village nearby. This is a perfect stay if you come with your own car, but the hosts are very helpful in arranging transport if you need it. The breakfasts and evening meals are delicious with huge servings of typical Kerala specialities including lots of fruit and freshly prepared vegetables. We will definitely return as we had such a tranquil and comfortable stay after a few days in busy Trivandrum.

Reviewed By Jane WThis is my second time staying at karthik Villla and I would never stay anywhere else when I am in Varkala. The location is perfect, 1 minute from the middle of the cliff, but just off a small path which means it isn't noisy. So all the restaurants, shops and the beach is on your doorstep. The accommodation itself is wonderful and great value for money! It is a large room, with 2 beds, one king size and one single. The rooms would be good for families or friends sharing or like myself, on their own. The bed is very comfortable and I slept well every night. There is both a fan and AC and a TV. There is a large bathroom, with shower and hot water, plenty of shelves and also an electric fan. There is a fridge in the room, which is a real bonus for storing snacks or drinks. There is also a water filter, so you have constant fresh drinking water. Outside there is your own private balcony with chairs and also your own hammock. I find this so relaxing, to get away and just chill out whilst on holiday is fab, and laying in the hammock looking at the coconut trees and eagles is amazing. The family that own this place are lovely, and will treat you like family. They are extremely helpful and will help with any questions you have. The room is very clean and I felt so comfortable staying there, I also felt very safe which was important to me as a women travelling on my own. Best place in Varkala!

Reviewed By AdisrichayaWe stayed here to celebrate the New years with the sea and nature and we had an absolutely lovely time. We love the beautiful cottage and the peace and quiet. Jasar has always been an excellent host and looks after us like family. We feel safe and absolutely at home here. The staff, the manager and the caretaker go out of their way to give us the best. We love their simple delicious homemade food. The beach is right there and we love to go for long walks and swim everyday. There are many good restaurants nearby to try out as well. The view from the cliff is amazing. We would definitely be going back again.

Reviewed By salus101On the website booking.com I read that this guest house has 3 stars, but the conditions and qualifications of the staff do not correspond to this. Often there was no electricity, and the guest house did not even have a backup generator. Wi-Fi was available only in the corridor and the hall, the connection was often interrupted. The guest house had no adjacent territory at all. The toilets of the adjacent rooms had a common ventilation grill, so all sounds were audible. After I found the mouse excrements on the wardrobe, I was afraid walk barefoot. By the way, taking our shoes off in front of the building was a requirement of the school. Mice could enter the room through the windows because the mosquito nets were holey. Often there were problems with cold water. The food was the same every day, very poor diet. After the massage I had large bruises on my body, the massage was conducted in unhygienic conditions, there were no disposable sheets. The schedule was similar to the daily routine in the army. The organizers could better plan the day. As a result, army schedule of classes, constant noise, unhealthy diet, strange massage did not contribute to good health. After the course I was recovering for a long time.
