Not good. Not worth the money.

Right from check-in it was not a great experience. Reception staff was too slow and not courteous. We had to pay an additional fee per day to park our car in the hotel premises. Only two small lifts in one corner of the hotel to cater to so many rooms. It was quite a walk from the lift to the room. The passage was very narrow and had a weird smell of the carpets. Room was too small and dingy. Felt suffocated. Breakfast was below average. Very limited choice of food. Most of the food tasted bad. Overall not at all worth the money paid.

I would unfortunately not recommend this hotel. Rooms are dated, and feel unclean. I was there during a very cold time and there was no heating option on the aircon in the entire hotel. The windows don't close completely so the wind was whistling in, i was offered an upgrade but the offered room was bigger (thetefore colder). Shower is in the tub with a shower curtain. I checked out after an hour of checking in and moved hotels for my stay in the Durban region.

The staff at Balmoral are amazing, willing to assist in anyway, go that extra mile to help and make your stay more pleasant. Rooms lovely and clean, serviced well. The Receptionist lady helped us above and beyond her duty. We were there for this past weekend - my daughter was swimming and we were stuck with no accommodation but they assisted us with no hesitation. An absolutely amazing place and people and we will always return when we come to Durban.

Although this hotel has a beautiful look and my room had a view... Problems were that on first night my kettle did not want to work... Aircon came on but even on lowest setting it still blew hot air... Night was extremely humid and I had to resort to wetting a towel to sleep under to keep cool... Balcony door was stuck and had to be lifted up to open... Of all the things I asked the next day to be fixed only kettle was working... Heard about the hotel for great stay but would rather go somewhere else next time...
