Peace Respite in a Beautiful Area

Reviewed By bonhamWI

My wife and I recently spent 3 very enjoyable days staying in the Hideaway Cabin at Walnut Canyon Cabins. After the hustle and bustle and extreme heat of San Antonio, even with its unique Riverwalk, the cabin and Texas Hill Country provided the low-key respite we needed. On each of our 3 evenings we sat on the cabin balcony feeding the numerous wandering deer that showed up to eat the cracked corn provided by the Walnut Canyon owners. The hills below reminded us very much of vistas in the Tuscan area of Italy. Preparing our breakfast with the provided eggs, excellent Canadian bacon from Opa’s in Fredricksburg, fresh berries, coffee, and biscuits worked out very well. We can highly recommend Walnut Canyon Cabins to all searching for lodging in the area.

Fabulous place to unwind and relax!

I can't say enough good things about Moose Creek Ranch. We stayed here for two nights while visiting Grand Teton NP, and while it was a bit of a drive, including going over the Teton Pass, it was so worth it! We stayed in one of the twin cabins, and it was fantastic! The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was well-appointed, the towels and sheets were high quality, and the kitchen/den room was well-decorated and was equipped with everything you need. All of the staff was super friendly and welcoming, and the property is gorgeous. The nightly campfires and s'mores kits are a fun extra, and the next-door neighbor's dog Penny, who comes often for visits, is a wonderful addition to the experience. I will definitely stay here again if I'm in the area!

7D Ranch

Can’t Wait To Go Back

Reviewed By Nikki6ny

I just returned from my third visit to the 7D ranch and it just keeps getting better. I traveled with 5 friends and we stayed in 2 of the warm, rustic cabins. The ranch is in a wonderful spot called the Sunlight Basin, where you have views of the mountains during the day, and skies full of stars at night. We took advantage of the amazing horseback riding each day, but the ranch also offers trap shooting, hiking and fly fishing if horses aren’t your thing. The riding trails are diverse and plentiful and the wranglers are top notch. We had the pleasure of having Leo as our wrangler and he (and his dog, Lizzie) took us on several rides that varied from relatively flat to high in the mountains. The kitchen staff is also amazing. The meals are served family style and they can accommodate any dietary restrictions you may have. Special shout out to Emma, who baked some incredible desserts, including a creme brulee cookie that deserves an award! In a nutshell, the Dominicks run a wonderful gem of a ranch. By the end of the week you feel like you are not just a guest, but part of the family. It’s a special place indeed….

Ranch Camp Fun for All!

Reviewed By GrandTour751519

We had a fabulous week at Tumbling River for an extended family vacation. Everyone from kids, teens, parents and grandparents jumped into all of amazing daily activities--riding, hiking, fishing, white water rafting. Our group of 13 ranged in age from 8 to 70+ and there was always an appealing activity for everyone. Scott and Megan have the ranch running smoothly with everyone picking their activities the evening before. Kids and teens had a great time with other children their age. Staff was wonderfully attentive and engaging and the food was terrific. There were tears at the end of the week when the younger kids said goodbye to their horses and the teens exclaimed that it was the best vacation ever.

Exceptional Family Vacation!

Reviewed By 366lorrier

This was one of the best family vacations we've had! Kenny and Laura and all of the staff welcomed us as family as soon as we stepped foot on the property. Riding horses, hiking, fishing, archery, ax throwing, trip to Yellowstone - these were all amazing experiences. We loved our horses and could not get enough of the breathtaking scenery during our trail rides! Our favorite part of each day was sitting down to homecooked meals and sharing our stories with the other guests and the staff. Because the ranch is tucked high up in the mountains there is absolutely no wifi, which was a beautiful gift for our family. Our 15 year old forgot all about her phone and ran out of the cabin each morning ready to ride the trails! Our cabin was comfortable and cozy and all the staff are welcoming, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Thank you Kenny and Laura - you go above and beyond to make Crossed Sabres Ranch an exceptional experience!

My wife Denise has always dreamed of visiting a 'Dude Ranch' and BMR certainly delivered a memorable experience! The May family are wonderful hosts and run a top-notch operation. The staff make you feel welcome and cater to your every need. We thoroughly enjoyed the people, facilities, and overall feeling of being a part of a working ranch. Key Notes: — Accommodations: Elk Park cabin was really spacious, comfortable, and clean. They do an awesome job of taking care of your cabin each day. — Food - The meals were remarkable…Shrimp & Grits, Duck & Gnocchi, Prime Rib, just to name a few magical creations provided by Chef Bob! — Horses - The horses are well taken care of and beautiful. They have a horse for everyone and if you find you and yours don’t hit it off, they’ll find another match that’s perfect for you. — Wranglers - All the wranglers are warm, friendly, and helpful. Our wrangler Jessica was amazing and made sure we were well taken care of and enjoyed our time at the ranch. — Saloon - At the end of the day, a saloon is a great place to relax and unwind with your favorite beverage, great music, and dancing. — Ranch - High in the Rockies, this ranch has great trails and scenic views. This is a working ranch, so there is always something going on throughout the day. — Hiking - Speaking of trails, the hiking is phenomenal and there are plenty of trails to take in while at the ranch. — Activities - While at BMR we experienced horse riding, calf roping, wrangling cattle, watercolor painting, leatherworking, and so much more. Trust me, you will be so glad you chose Black Mountain ranch, I know we are. We'll be counting the days until we visit again!
