The best available Ranches to stay near Caribbean

April 22, 2023 Florencio Paulino

Lounging on smooth Caribbean sands can be more restorative than the most luxurious spa treatment. Stretches of white and black beaches spill into the coolest, bluest waters of your dreams. A Caribbean island is the perfect literal jumping off point for a snorkeling or dive excursion, and the sea life seems just as welcoming as the islanders themselves. Sipping a tropical a cocktail while the sun paints the sky in shades of tangerine, you’ll ask yourself: “Is this heaven?”

Finca Victoria

The hotel is located on a hill with wonderful cross-ventilation, surrounded by luscious vegetation and the soothing symphony of the native Coqui frogs. Being on one of the highest points of the island provides us with an amazing view of sunrises and sunsets. The island has hardly any light pollution, which creates the perfect atmosphere to see the stars at night. Under the right clear-sky conditions, even the Milky Way becomes visible for stargazers to admire. Each room is truly unique in its own way. The Victoria Suite, Nuria's Suite, Sahar's Treehouse & The Baez-Haus-- each carries its own distinct feel based on its location on the property and the design of the space. All have private facilities, beach & bath towels, small cooler, basic kitchen utensils, mosquito net and a lot of personal touches. Every room has a ceiling fan because of our breezy location air conditioner is not needed.

Book it! You will be so happy you did!

Absolute Perfection

Although short, my stay at the Manapany was spectacular. Service was first class, and the food and beverages were a feast for the senses. My favorite memory is having lunch with my feet in the sand, champagne in my hand, listening to the ocean while Timal the scruffy kitty kept watch nearby. Erwin provided impeccable table service for both meals, and the night manager was very attentive and helpful after I came home to no power in my room late at night. There are lots of cute island critters— tortoises and hermit crabs— living their best life along side you while you live yours. I absolutely cannot wait to return for a longer stay— it is the perfect place for privacy and exceptional service.

Domaine Karaibes

Gorgeous property. Lacking in details.

Reviewed By jnsunset2

First and foremost, the property is absolutely gorgeous. It is well-maintained. The view is to-die-for and the bungalows are authentic and quaint. We stayed in "La Kaz" for two nights and then moved to "La Gwada." It was just me and my partner, so La Kaz was large enough for us, but it would be really cramped for a larger family. The bathroom is also positioned awkwardly because you have to go outside to enter (and we found out when we moved to La Gwada, you could see everything in La Kaz from the higher terraces. Oops. La Gwada was much larger and had a jacuzzi, although we could never get enough hot water to fill it, so we couldn't use it. The beds were super comfortable in both, which was great. Now for the not so awesome things. First was the supplies. Between the two bungalows, we had to buy every single thing that I would think would be available. Garbage bags, sponges, dish soap, hand soap, cooking oil, matches to light stove, tin foil/plastic wrap, salt, toilet paper (less than half a roll when we got there). I understand there wouldn't be a fully stocked kitchen/pantry, but it was obvious that the only thing there was what happened to be left over. The "breakfast" in the fridge consisted of a bag of cereal, half eaten, no label, just the plastic bag wrapped in a rubber band (no milk), unlabeled juice, and a frozen baguette. We asked the owner for two coffee "pods" for the senseo because we were desperate for coffee after our long travel day. All of that doesn't really matter - and quite frankly, would have been a non-issue had we not had to deal with construction noise. La Gwada is directly below the owner's quarters and they are renovating the top floor. So it was constant banging, electric sawing, sanding, throwing debris from the roof, etc. the whole time we were in the second bungalow. We asked them if they would be doing construction the whole time and they looked at us like we were a little crazy and then eventually said we should go tell them when we were there so they could keep it down. Who wants to get out of bed at 7:45AM to tell them we were in bed and to stop pounding on our ceiling?? We really wanted to relax on the hammock, read books and just chill, and it made it impossible with the construction. It started pretty much every day between 7:45am-9:30am. And then continued all day. I would assume the other bungalows aren't nearly as bad, since La Gwada was the first floor and the construction was the second. I would definitely ask about the construction if I were doing research. There is a row of bungalows that is farthest to the right when looking at the view....those would be best. Also, there is one bungalow directly next to the parking lot (like a few feet away) and next to the pool that would also be less than ideal. It was a tough review because the place really is gorgeous.

Very enjoyable hike to the waterfalls

Reviewed By Sophie K

We walked with a guide to the waterfalls and then had lunch at the restaurant. The hike was very pleasant, such beautiful nature! The only downside was that our guide kept telling us how things were tough for him, really pleading to get as much tip as possible. The lunch was simple and of good quality.

Second time and we still love Sand Dollar

Reviewed By kiyah36

Our second time at Sand Dollar and this piece of heaven exceeded all our expectations. We were married at Sand Dollar in 2012 and enjoyed the property with 18 of our closest family and friends. We decided to return to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and we had so much fun that my hubby said it was better than our first trip. What made the trip so epic: Hands down the staff! Mike and his team are so accommodating and took care of everything from pre-stocking the villa with food to ensuring everything was spotless. Chef Wayne was the highlight of our week. Everyone enjoyed hanging out with him while he prepared omelettes to everyone’s liking. He was so kind and his food was amazing. It was clear that he is passionate about his craft. He bent over backwards to accommodate food allergies and preferences. We visited several restaurants in St Thomas but none measured up to the meals prepared by Chef Wayne. The property is still so beautiful and Suzanne has continued to upgrade the property to make it comfortable for her guests. Really no words can express how amazing Sand Dollar is. I can’t wait to return.

We loved our trip to Lime Tree Farm - insane views, friendly hosts and delicious food. There are some great hikes but it’s also a very relaxing place to watch the cloud climb over the mountains, read and drink homegrown coffee. Rodger, Tiff, Keisha and Black Ops the dog elevated our experience to the next level! The grounds are like a botanical garden with a profusion of stunning flowers and fruits. A highlight of our trip to Jamaica. We stayed in Lookout which was really lovely and had a great view. The comfort of the round chair nearly made us miss our bus onwards! Will miss the fresh mint and lemongrass picked for our tea, and the birdsong acting as our morning alarm!

Guavaberry Spring Bay Vacation Homes

Pure Paradise

Reviewed By MERMAIDLG

Our first time here and won’t be our last! The warm reception of smiles from Tina & Michelle and wagging tails from Nova & Roxy made us feel right at home and part of the family. Such genuine hospitality! Stayed at the beach house at Guavaberry Spring Bay Vacation Homes not once, but twice within the same trip! After leaving for our scheduled trip to St. John for another week, we stayed there for 2 nights, cancelled the rest of the time there and headed back to our beautiful beach house. Once we experienced Virgin Gorda and the vibe of the entire island, the very friendly locals, a variety of islands to hop to for lunch or dinner, restaurants on VG and staying at the best place on the entire island. Staying in Cruz Bay, St. John was not for us. We missed our beach house and our new extended family. We had to go back. Tina was happy to help us get back. The property is landscaped with unique homes scattered throughout the lush tropical vegetation. Quiet, private, tasteful and breath taking views for all. The beach is intimate and mostly filled with the Guavaberry residents. Everyone is just lovely. A true community of long time fans of this slice of heaven. The beach extends to many other beaches to explore, all walkable from spring bay. There is no where else in the Caribbean that meets my needs as this gem provides. Our new home away from home during the winter months. Thank you Tina & Michelle!
