Attractive, modern, clean apartments with basic cooking facilities of two electric rings. Unfortunately we arrived on a very hot day and the air conditioning is not put on until summer so we were very hot. The communal washing machine had no power. The WiFi is not always good. The plastic covering on the sofa would not be pleasant on a hot summer day. Otherwise in a good position near the lake and very pleasant.

El Cortijo de Vega Grande, completely renovated in 2014, is located in the countryside of Llerena, southeast of the province of Badajoz. The town of Llerena, declared as a National Artistic Historic Landmark in 1966 for its rich architecture, offers an interesting mix of Moorish, Gothic and Baroque. El Cortijo involves 10 spacious rooms with all comforts, each of them has its own personality and they have wonderful views to the garden. All of them have free WIFI connection, private bathroom, air conditioning, telephone, plasma screen and desk. You can enjoy the outdoor pool, a games room and large gardens, etc. In the Cortijo de Vega Grande its vegetable garden is cultivated and chicken eggs are collected. Looking for caring the environment it produces energy from renewable sources, it uses rainwater and for its construction natural materials have been used. The surrounding area has many cultural attractions and activities to enjoy outdoors activities such as the route on horseback or on bicycle to the Roman Amphitheater in Regina, the Alcazaba de Reina, Swamp Llerena, the Special Protection Area for Birds of South-Arroyo, etc. We will be pleased to helping you in everything you might need during your stay, please contact us in advance if you want to book a pick up from Seville or Cordoba to the hotel (at an additional cost).
Enormous farmhouse in a nice setting just outside Llerena. It has been renovated in recent years and is decorated tastefully. We spent a nice afternoon by the pool. We decided to stay for dinner which in hindsight was a mistake as it was hugely disappointing and represented poor value. No working wifi.

La Pajarona is a country house located in the Centre of the idilic Siruela village, within the heart of which is known as 'La Siberia Extremena', occupying a Century old building that has respected the facade and inicial distribution of the living room and main bedroom, with umbrella vaults on the house structure and groundfloor both. The rest of the building has been remodeled looking for the highest levels of comfort, which is identified by the 'Three Oaks ' sign. A total of 24 people can be hosted and distributed amongst the 8 Double ensuite rooms. Typical hospitality from this land is naturally provided for all the guests, either in the main living room or in he Arches dining room, both facing the courtyard and the orange trees garden. In the courtyard, the swimming pool will help us to stand better the Siberian summer, making it refreshing and very relaxing. From the Solarium a beautiful sight of Siruela mountains is enjoyed at any time, sunbathing or freshy shadow, in this gallery rebuilded and recovered on the traditional style. A cosy library invites us to learn a bit more about the region or enjoy a bit of interesting and diverse readings. Every single room is provided with TV, Air Conditioning, Heating and WIFI throughout the house. Also, La Pajarona offers an adapted room plus 2 rooms to be open, as well as accesibility measures so that our visitors will not find any barrier for their enjoyment. The House wants to offer you unforgettable times with very special and surprising moments... From a Flamenco evening to a civil wedding, going through short crochet and embroidery courses ... a relaxing massage , bakery and sweets manufacture , liquors and homemade preserves, all kinds of board games (Cards, Trivial, Tower, Chess...), swimming pool days, a romantic dinner, a pleasant afternoon reading in the library, a wedding night, a gastronomic day with the tasting of the food prepared by the group, Films projection and anything you may ask. Enjoy it ...
This was my first stay at La Pajarona and I was very impressed with the house and all the staff. I and my friends will be returning next year. The town of Sirula is small and charming with a number of bars selling good food.

What an amazing and unexpectedly charming place! This replica Roma Villa was built by the slightly eccentric, friendly Owner, whom I believe is a local Professor of Ancient History (English was purely via Google Translate which, in itself, added to the effect!). Having navigated Don Alvaro (I'm not sure we ever went the same way twice, but its a sweet village) the drive up the drive to the Vila is pure Gladiator - Think Cyprus tree drive (without the hand brushing the corn!). If you've been to Pompey you'll get the idea: You enter via the Pluvium (a small courtyard entrance hall with a hole in the roof that allows any rain into the small central pool). Check-in at the office off the Pluvium whilst listening to classical music and looking at real and replica artefacts and decorations. Then through to the Atrium - large courtyard with garden and rooms along the walls. There are twelve rooms, ours was spacious and clean with a large shower room - small TV with no UK Channels that we could find, but Hey, the Romans didn't watch TV! (Wifi only in the Dining Room or on the Veranda) It's quite an experience. There is no food available other than the continental breakfast - however there's an honesty Bar (beers, water, soft drinks in the fridge) and there are good cooking facilities available for use off the large dining room. The pool looks out over the Plain and the setting is generally magnificent. So - this is a pretty basic place - it's certainly not a 5* luxury hotel, but that's its charm. Merida with all of its Roman ruins, along with all of the restaurants etc is only 10 mins away, parking is easy there (ask the Owner for tips too) Treat yourself. After all it's not expensive and you won't find anywhere else like it. I hope you will agree with me, it's the perfect place to set yourself up for a visit to Merida. I've given Average Service Rating because there's nothing to expect after check-in other than a friendly face and of course help if required.

We had an excellent stay for 1 night while travelling in Spain. The room was quite big and had everything that you may need. The guy in the reception was also very friendly and helpful and made our stay much better that 4* hotels with triple the price. Zafra is a small but lovely place and I would stay there again next time.

Travelling with friends on motorcycles we used this hotel as a stop over. Good value, basic, clean rooms with a/c. The owners were very pleasant and provided an excellent meal in the evening. The setting is lovely and as one of the other reviewers described, the place is steeped in history.
