These new units are great so clean spacious and the beds are so comfortable, the water pressure in the shower is great and there is ac as well as free wifi and parking in front of the unit. We stayed 2 nights and at the back of the room there is a patio, and a grassy area to relax on as well as some alpacas or chickens to feed. There is also a place to recycle which is great as well as a playground for the children to enjoy. The tv is a flat screen and it has youtube which is great for all the family even bring a USB to plugin with your own movies. The greeting on arrival makes you feel welcome and right at home, we stayed in a deluxe king unit and we were looking for somewhere to celebrate our anniversary and were pleasantly surprised to find this place, this is more than a lodge its a motel and well worth the price, housekeeping is doing a great job keep it up. We will definitely be back to stay., it's close by to the shops in either direction, we stayed in unit 18 and it was very relaxing.

The Sanctuary @ Bay of Islands

Perfect way to spend our wedding anniversary

Reviewed By Diamonds2

I searched for a secluded getaway in the Bay of Islands, and that is what we found for our wedding anniversary weekend getaway. Even before arrival, Glennis made every effort to exceed our expectations. We were able to check in a bit early due to having lunch booked across in Russell. On arrival we were greeted by our lovely hostess. Unbeknownst to me, hubby had asked for specific flowers to be in the room, they were a lovely surprise. The room was a delight, there are 4 rooms with decks that look out over native bush to the sea beyond. The sound of birdsong on the deck was lovely. The breakfasts prepared by Glennis were amazing, with a selection of cut-up fresh fruits, nuts, grains, juices, tea, and coffee. On our second morning, we had cooked breakfast which was equally delicious. On our actual anniversary, Glennis cooked us a beautiful 3-course meal, one of the best meals we have had. We had lovely massages as well. Glennis was the best hostess, on hand to chat to us, but did not impose on our time either. We will be making this a regular stay-away venue.

Gorgeous studio accommodation with a romantic feel

Reviewed By Wendy1241

As travellers who prefer to stay near the coast, we found this accommodation exceeded our expectations. The studio was bright, clean and tastefully decorated, with a large spa bath, pretty views of the sea from the dining area and bathroom, and a very comfortable bed. Loved the attention to detail. It had everything we needed, including a generous sized container of good quality plunger coffee (a must have with no cafe nearby!) There is a guest garden with seating that overlooks Ohiwa and the coast down towards Opotiki. We enjoyed a glass of wine there in the evening, taking in the spectacular views. As the studios are on a hillside property, there is quite a steep driveway and a few steps to negotiate, but all worth the effort! Opotiki is approximately 10 minutes (beautiful) drive away. We would love to stay there again sometime and can’t recommend it highly enough!

Paradise!!

As soon as you enter Whangaroa Harbour you enter Paradise. The colours of the bay make you feel like being on a tropical island. Lisa and her pets are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The whole accomodation is very clean and tasteful. We loved having all our meals out on the amazing deck, hearing the birds and cicada’s from the bush and looking out on the ocean. Such a special and peaceful place! How amazing having Lisa’s partner Scott providing excellent fishing trips almost at the doorstep of the accomodation! He is going out of his way for all his clients every time we have gone out on his boat! Lisa and Scott made us feel like family and we cannot think of a better spot for spending active family holidays. Incredible beaches are close by, bring the surfboards and snorkling gear along! Thank you so much Lisa and Scott, we’ll be back soon again.??????
