Pousada de Valenca do Minho, Sao Teotonio

The Pousada de Valenca opened in 1962, a project by architect Joao de Mello Breyner Andresen. This Pousada embraces the Vale do Rio Minho from the green Portuguese banks to the Galician progress which involves the Tui cathedral. Situated on the frontier with Spain on top of the historical centre and the fortified Valenca, the Pousada of Sao Teotonio has a magnificent view of the neighbouring lands resting on the town's walls, where you can feel the harmony of nature in an idyllic setting. This hotel in Valenca is characterized by its welcoming aspect, with its grand fireplaces which stand out in the drawing room. Guests can visit in Valencia several points of interest such as the church of Santa Maria dos Anjos, the House of Eirado or the Church of Santo Estevao.

Beautiful!

Stayed here during our Camino. Beautiful location in the most charming town. Staff so lovely. We inquired about the sunset and later that afternoon, received an unexpected phone call from reception letting us know it was the perfect time to watch the sun set. Lovely cocktails on the veranda with breathtaking views. Breakfast server was kind and attentive and patient with our multiple Coffee requests. Room was spotless. Excellent shower. Highly recommended. Oh, and the hotel manager kindly got us our pilgrim passports.

Quinta do Caminho, AL

In the way to Santiago, as we walk through the old roman bridge of Pedreira, Quinta do Caminho rises quietly and peacefully inviting every traveller in. There's a water course that runs below the house and crosses all the property: Not so long ago it took water to the 3 water mills that still exist under the house. All around Quinta do Caminho there's a a cosy and infinite water sound that fulfills time.

nice and quiet place.

Close to Valença, very nice, beautifull place to stay. The room was big and recently renewed. Also the terrace was big. The bed however was a little bit squeaky :-P We ate dinner at the restaurant of the hotel and the food was truly amazing. Amazing food, combined with the good care of Luis, we had a perfect evening. Try the Picanha carpaccio and the tbone steak, believe us, you won’t be disappointed. 

Super Guest house - clean, modern, excellent location, great price

We loved the place from the first minute. The owner, Sarah, was super friendly and hospitable and upgraded us to a great room. The place is modern, located in an excellent place inside the fort, rooms are good sized, with balconies and modern bathroom. The beds are also modern and comfortable. It was a real treat especially if you take into consideration the price. The is a nice communal kitchen and sitting area. We shall definitely return.

Located in the heart of the old town this hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable. Everything you need is steps away. There is no lift, but if you’re walking the Camino, that should be no problem. Great value.

Best stop on the Camino Portuguese

Reviewed By Liz R

Along the past few days of the Camino Portuguese, we bypassed most towns and highways, which was lovely, but we missed having places to stop and rest and re-fortify. Then we came across Quinta Estrada Romana, right on the Camino! It was lovely and welcoming and had the BEST iced tea! The owners were so gracious, just what a tired pilgrim needed. And delicious homemade pastel de nata right out of the oven made our day! Next time I’ll plan to stay the night!

Great Little Find

Reviewed By Mike S

We had a day trip to Portugal and stayed here. The house is fabulous with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. A couple of things let it down. The house was shut up when we arrived with no-one on site to let us in. We did only wait 20 minutes after a phone call. The house smelled a bit musty and just needed the windows opening for a bit before we got there. Plenty to do on site either swimming in the pool ,games, TV and music etc. Certain things didn't work or were a little dated, but that didn't take away from our stay. We had a great time and for a fantastic price. Worth a visit.

A great start to el Camino Portugues

We couldn't have wished for a better start to our journey! The hostel is a gem in the beautiful city of Valença, right within the city walls which is a great plus, right in the Camino path. Our host was very welcoming and gave us numerous tips for food and for the walk itself. Everything has been carefully designed and build with care and love...having all one could wish for! The beds are well built and extremely comfortable. The breakfast is fantastic and the bathrooms are spotless clean! Highly recommended!! Congratulations and all the best for your future! Ah, that's right there's also a small area outside to enjoy a drink and a read!
