Lovely stay
Reviewed By WorldcharlyLovely stay in the well know hotel in Taketomi island. Beautiful set up, walking around the resort and going to the beach is absolutely lovely! Breakfast was great, lounge is very relaxing and the staff very quite/friendly. Only bad part would be that there is quite a few insects in the house, which is completely normal for a country side place like that i would say. However still an absolute great experience.

Nice but sterile
Reviewed By netllamaI spent 1 night and it was fine, but not great. Staff spoke some english, but not what i'd consider fluent. My room was clean & quiet, but wasn't all that comfortable. The AC unit remote was only in japanese, and i never figured out how to get it cool the room. The wifi worked ok from the main building, but was nearly unusable in my room (slow and frequently stopped working for minutes at a time). The hot water in the bathroom required setting a cryptic thermostat in advance. Beds were asia hard, plus rice pillows which was not a great experience. The only great aspect was the food. Both breakfast & dinner were excellent, with a variety of traditional foods.

An oasis of peace amidst the heat
Reviewed By Debbie2011_11Our experience of traditional Taketomi hospitality started when we were met off the ferry and driven to the ryokan by a delightfully charming young woman. We were very early and our room wasn't ready but we were given chilled hibiscus tea while we were introduced to the places of interest on the island. We had a very nice Japanese style room and which was very relaxing and cool after a day exploring the island on bikes. Dinner and breakfast were delicious with a lovely range of dishes. The staff were very hospitable and attentive. A wonderful experience.

It is a guest house in Taketomi-jima Island, Okinawa Prefecture. The whole island of Taketomijima is a conservation area of traditional Okinawa settlements. What is the landscape of Okinawa you imagine? All exist on Taketomijima! The whole island is the place of Okinawa's original scenery in Taketomijima only in Okinawa There are male dormitory and female dormitory on the homes and a simple private room. ● I am using Okinawa plaster for the wall. ● I am heavily using Okinawa tree for wood. ● Shower room is mosaic tile. I buried coral and bamboo shoots from Taketomijima. ● There is a ventilation hole of about 20 cm at the top and bottom of the simplified private room. Because Okinawa is hot and humid, it circulates air throughout the hall. ● Air conditioning is managed all at once in the hall. ● Toilet and shower room are joint. ● Bicycle rental, 1000 yen per day ● Taketomijima recommends consecutive nights stay. ● We are waiting for you. Reviewed By nspisterゲストハウスとしての利用であればロケーションから考えるとコストパフォーマンスが高く、掃除も行き届いて清潔感もあります。離れにあるトイレも温水便座で清潔でした。 ゲストハウスなので、当然ながらタオル、ネマキは持参が必要ですが、シャンプー、リンス、ボディーソープは共有の物があったので助かりました。洗濯機、乾燥機も設備がありました。 平日にもかかわらず、ゆんたくも開催され、泡盛もごちそうになりました。 ゆんたくが行われる玄関手前の庭にはシンボルツリー的なガジュマルが宿を守るように力強く枝を伸ばしていました。成長が気になり次回宿泊の楽しみができました。 個人的にはスタッフさんとゲストの距離感も必要以上に近くなく自由にリラックスして過ごすことができました。 英語、中国語、日本語の表記があるので日本人のみならず外国人にもお勧めです。 宿にはインスタントヌードル、お茶、ビールは売られています。外食を予定している人は必ず予約をしないと食事に困ります。 宿内の画僧が各所でアップされているので印象的だった庭のガジュマルと外観をアップします。 If it is used as a guesthouse, considering the location, the price is reasonable, the cleaning is perfect, and there is also a sense of cleanliness. As a guesthouse, of course, you need to bring towels and pajama, but shampoos, rinses, and body soaps are equiped so that you don't need to bring them. There is also a washing machine and dryer. Despite weekdays, Yuntaku was also held and Awamori(local traditional S ake) was served. In the garden in front of the entrance where Yun-taku is held, symbol tree-like banyan trees stretched out powerfully to protect the inn. I hope them growth safety and look forword to confirm the growth the next stay. Personally, The staff was friendiy, and I was able to relax freely. There are English, Chinese and Japanese notations, so it is recommended not only for Japanese but also for foreigners. Important point Instant noodles, tea and beer are sold at the inn. If you plan to eat out, make sure you make a reservation of a restaurant. Since so many pictures in the inn are upped in various website, that I will be up the garden banyan and the appearance.

worst service in Japan
Reviewed By bari_ttcThis guest house is run by a elderly couple. I don't expect they can speak English but at least a respectful attitude. No smile and not responsive when you 'suimase' them. This is the worst service that I have ever encountered in Japan. Room is clean and tide but still they left me a bad experience.

The space where cago is extraordinary. The simple inn where I have no televisions and clocks. cago is relaxing politely with pet dog Hermes with a married couple. We don't give services like a hotel. Luxurious time when everything isn't here has passed slowly. Please, please enjoy time when you're Rojas so that we may live in cago.
The best place to stay in Taketomi
Reviewed By My_eyes_to_japanAmazing place with 3 double rooms, a veranda for breakfast with original food from Okinawa, with excellent hosts. It is worth to spend two nights here, rent a bicycle and visit the sand beaches around this precious island. We visited it my wife and I on May 2019.

Excellent location and room but.....
Reviewed By marcdegueurce2013When you ring from the Ishigaki terminal they will send a shuttle to pick you up from Taketomi ferry terminal. Otherwise hop on a bus it will not break the bus but if you have cases then it is a different story. Make sure you stock up with any food and drink you may need since there is no supermarket / family mart / 7 eleven on the island. Also there are not many bars on the island and they have last orders quite early. Akenaya has a bar but stangely enpugh it opens for one hour from 9:30 until 10:30 pm....don t ask! Also Akenaya does not offer breakfast however they provide tea / coffee facilites. In the room and they can also arrange breakfast. With the restaurant a few yards away. Fro an additional ¥ 1000 per person. That s ok in normal season but in high. Season when you end up paying £330 for the room it should be offered not charged. Bear in mind Japanese are not flexible when it comes to small hotels. Check out is at 10am and after having travelled throughout the country it is non negotiable. A bit sad again when you end up paying that much and asking for an extra 1 hour.....but that s the way it is so you ve been told. Now the room is spacious with good AC. There is a small fridge but enough to stock up up water. - there was a large bottle free when we arrived - beer etc. there is a large wet room with shower and bath. There is also a nice deck but did. Not use it as was too hot. + some mosquitoes + ants. Note that they do not come i the room due to good AC. The manager and staff speak little English so make sure you have google translate and then it is ok. The wi fi is of good standard. Akaneya only offers two rooms , one western and one Japanese style so make sure you book in advance. We went for the western style although the Japanese one looked a bit more spacious and away from tne stoned / sandy path. There is not much traffic apart from the occasional van. We will deffo return since it. Is the best offer on the island if we re prepared to pay the price. We toured the other hotels while walking around and this one is simply the cosisest, niciest and least crowded. Staff was kind although not flexible and the manager offered the bar drinks when we stayed there so you can t complain really.

Reviewed By bird-tour受付の接客からとても丁寧、デイベッド付きの客室も快適で寛げました。ちょうどハロウィンのイベントをやっている時でしたが、敷地全体がハロウィンムードが漂っていて、ライトアップもあるなど夜まで楽しめました。敷地が広くて、泊まるだけでなく観光地のように楽しめるのは良いのですが、泊まるエリアによってビーチやレストランまでかなり距離があるのが少し気になりました。

Never stay here ! Rude Management
Reviewed By AmitChanda29We stayed here for 2 nights and to say the truth the property is nicely located and well maintained but owners are moody. They will behave so nice when you arrive but if you dont take excursions with them like scuba diving/kayaking etc they become mean and argue. The day we checked out, our ferry was at noon and unluckily we didnt have car so they agreed to pick us and drop as ferry schedule. However after we paid and checked out in morning but our ferry was late noon and they simply refused to drop us giving mean excuses. We were so badly stuck as their is no taxi service as well, finally when I offered her 2000 JPY she happily agreed. So their are better places on island, avoid such greedy people
