Excellent stay for wedding reception

Had a great one night stay at The Runnymede on Thames, as part of wedding party/reception. Staff were courteous and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and well appointed. Enjoyed the Borders biscuits! My only peeve was that room doors/walls not sound-proof (not an issue for us, although we did wake up one guest whilst chatting in the corridor, apologies!).

Modern room in a central location.

Reviewed By alasdairm810

The room is modern and well ventilated. Sometimes there can be some noise from the pub across the street or loud cars on the road below. But I wore ear plugs with the window open and this didn’t wake me. I would recommend bringing your own toiletries as the shower gel provided smells funny! All the staff I met were very friendly. Iron and ironing board are available from reception. Nearby there is a Sainsburys, M&S Foodhall and a Macdonalds. The train station is only a few minutes walk away and has good connections to LGW. Overall a nice hotel - would stay again.

large hotel lots of rooms but no car park I arrived late Sunday evening 10pm and it was pouring down found what i thought was the Premier Inn car park but it was full fyi next morning i counted circa 50 spots The hotel is very central so yellow lines are everywhere but i was forced to risk a ticket and entered the hotel to check in while my priority was to get my car slotted away for the night - and get my head down The one and only person i could determine was present was a young Indian lady assisting someone in the cafe area when she came to the desk she asked me what company name i was booked under so i must assume that this hotel gets a fair amount of business business. I advised her ı was booked under my name but the car park out back was full so where might i park my car she replied the car park did not belong to the hotel. When ı pressed the point she simply replied she didn't normally work at this location so ultimately she was unable to answer my question If i hadn't already prepaid i would have cut my losses and left the place there and then I walked outside and pulled up three youngsters walking by and asked for their help and they very politely advised me of a car park just around the corner which is where i parked up for the night Next morning down to breakfast and i asked a young Indian lady at the lectern how many rooms did the hotel have she replied she was new here The coffee machine in the cafe was out of order There was what appeared to be fresh puke stain on my carpet just where one would step into bed I was aware car parking at this hotel was first come first served but given the number of rooms in the hotel you are quite likely to have park off premise and ultimately i really do believe the staff should have a better understanding of where they work I asked myself would Sir Lenny really stay here and the answer came back NO he wouldn't

Book via Groupon!

Reviewed By 2015Lil

We recently stayed here 3 nights. Firstly I will say that the hotel itself is lovely and the rooms are great. The staff are also friendly. Hence I've given 4 stars. In addition, we dined at the hotel all 3 nights and the food was excellent albeit quite dear (there also aren't other restaurants nearby). However, there were a couple of issues. I had booked direct with the hotel and suspect I paid more as a result. I also paid full price to upgrade to a track view. I have since been advised by someone who lives nearby that bookings via Groupon are much better value. Also, the air conditioning didn't work in our room although we didn't bring this to anyone's attention as it wasn't that hot and we didn't want the hassle. However, as it was, we ended up moving rooms for the last night anyway. It was slightly annoying as I had requested a higher floor away from noisy areas. We were unfortunately given a 1st floor room above a function room and on the penultimate day the manager rang us while out (which was anxiety provoking in itself) and explained there would be noise that evening and offered us an upgraded room. So although we did have a bigger (family) room that last night we had to move all our stuff to it which was a nuisance and we have had no reduction in the large amount I paid for the 3 nights. In summary, I would recommend the hotel but to pay less through Groupon if possible!

We were all set to go but got back to back cancelled flights from Edinburgh to Gatwick with EasyJet so informed the hotel that we couldn’t come. Our booking was non refundable but we were extremely pleased when we were sent an email stating we had been given a full refund by this hotel. When were able to reschedule our visit, we will certainly rebook at The Mandolay.

Guildford Harbour Hotel & Spa

Guildford Harbour Hotel & Spa experience starts in the hotel’s lobby - a spectacular, light-drenched atrium with a glittering chandelier, dazzling rainbow coloured decor and funky, yet comfortable, seating that sprawls to an alfresco terrace. It’s one of the most popular places to meet in Guildford, right in the heart of the town. Whether you are staying for business or pleasure, the availability of top quality food and drink is always a priority. The HarBAR, the hotel’s heart and hub, is a relaxed, all-day affair, a place to go for anything from a full meal, to decadent afternoon tea, or even just a coffee and slice of cake with an emphasis on comfort and atmosphere. For gloriously tender cuts of traditionally reared, grass-fed beef, you can step next door to the lively Long Bar & Grill - a popular and atmospheric Guildford destination. On Fridays and Saturdays, the venue hums with live DJ’s and dancing. When the hard work is done, be it business or sightseeing, and you’re seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, the signature HarSPA awaits. There are seven individual treatment rooms at HarSPA, plus a hydrotherapy pool, plunge pool, stone oven sauna, mud rasul and an aromatic crystal steam room. Guests can even take a dip in HarSPA’s outdoor “Champagne Pool” with submerged seating and stress-relieving water jets. Brimming with historic castles and cathedrals, 300 acres of beautiful parkland and some of the best independent designer boutiques outside London, Guildford is so much more than a peaceful commuter town. Located just 30 minutes away by train from central London, it is the ideal base for exploring the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as discovering nearby attractions and local villages including Shere Village where parts of “The Holiday”, “Beauty & The Beast” and “Bridget Jones Diary” were filmed.

Lovely hotel

Actually stayed at this hotel after our flights being cancelled at Gatwick but honestly couldn’t have asked for a better place to have stayed! Lovely hotel, so welcoming, hotel provided us with breakfast, lunch and dinner during the difficult and unexpected circumstances. Very modern and clean. (Also smelt very nice in reception area!) Used the spa area which was great, definitely use the outdoor pool if you get the chance! Hotel really central and close to lots of shops and restaurants. I didn’t catch the managers name but there was a gentleman who really made us feel welcome and was checking we were all ok, so thankyou so much this went such a long way for us! Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again! (Maybe without it being sent from the airport!)

Awful - do not book this hotel!

Reviewed By yve_1968

I booked a luxury break and went as a solo traveller for one night. Travelling alone seemed to confuse the reception staff who asked if I wanted a table for 2 at dinner and even after reminding him I was alone, he then said a table for 2 at breakfast. I was given a black fluffy furry dressing gown and a towel that could fit around a child easily but not an adult. The furry dressing gown was not suitable as it remained wet, a towelling dressing gown would have been more suitable. I was not given directions to my room or told anything about the facilities in the hotel or where to find them. I was told when I leave room the following day, the towel and dressing gown should be returned to reception. Not left in the room (so I returned my wet towel and damp dressing gown when leaving). Only one towel person client. So when that towel is wet, you have to continue to use it. My shower kept turning hot then cold when in use. When not in use it would switch on randomly. My room was cold so I slept in my hoodie. The room brochure said Netflix and Prime could be accessed by logging in. Neither worked. The WiFi was terrible. The spa was dirty. I went into the jacuzzi and there was a film of scummy brown stuff (dead skin, sweat, oils etc) floating as a residue on the top of the bubbles. I came out because it was like sitting in a bath used by 20 strangers!! The sauna was not working. Patrons were not encouraged to use the shower before entering the spa. I watched people come straight from the gym and get straight into the jacuzzi/bath! There were no staff around the spa pool area. There was a hydro pool outside that seemed quite popular but I couldn't get in it because by this point I had lost interest in using their dirty facilities. I was told the spa closes 3 hours earlier at the weekend, which seemed to make no sense to me. It began to rain so I stayed in my room for most of my visit. I went for dinner, ordered chicken. I was told it was a good choice because they had nothing left because it was jubilee weekend. When my chicken came, it was raw on the inside. I ordered desert and only 2 things were available on a menu of 6 things - ice cream and lemon tart. I mentioned to the waitress my chicken wasn't cooked on the inside and was told "sorry about that". I went to bed so disappointed, got up early, ate a burnt breakfast (my expectations were zero at this point so it was no surprise) then I checked out 3 hours early! What should have been a relaxing break away was a disaster! This place is a complete shambles! The customer service is very poor! The room outdated and cold. There is nothing I would recommend about this hotel except the view from my room. Take my advice and stay somewhere else!!!

I have just spend four nights at this Hotel (split into two visits a couple of days apart). I have total admiration for Diane the General Manager and the way she approaches her work, her staff and the complete running of this great Hotel. She really does lead by example. In these difficult times after Covid with the ever continuing staff shortages, Diane and her team clearly pull together and make you feel really special and that nothing is too much trouble. It was obvious that they were all working hard and really shared their work loads. Not only were they running the Hotel but on average, hold 3 Wedding a week which is no mean feat. Well done to Diane and all the staff and especially Paul.
