Exceptional Hotel Experience!

The Intercontinental in Santo Domingo provided not only the best location for business, pleasure and shopping, but the customer service is simply exceptional. I stayed for over 10 days on business and personal matters. Enjoyed the gym and the pool overlooking the city, the flawless rooms …and the best sushi bar in the city. The desserts at the restaurant are memorable. Special thanks to the employees at the desk who helped me and went out of the way when I lost my laptop charger (so profesional) and to the helpful limo driver Sr. Norberto. I have stayed at the Intercontinental in São Paulo and San Pedro Sula and they are also excellent. The experience in Santo Domingo was the best. Highly recommended!

A Great Place To Stay

Reviewed By NorthCarolinaTom2022

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for three nights this past week. Staff was both helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable and cool enough so I slept well. Free breakfast bar was excellent along with the wide selection including fresh fruits and the ability to customize your omelet. It was everything I could ask for in a hotel. If there was one thing I could change, I would add a grab bar near the tub as I am getting older and the tile floor of the bathroom was slippery when it got wet.

In the heart of the colonial quarter of Santo Domingo, set among remarkable buildings, stands the Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando hotel, the former home of the Governor of the same name, a contemporary of Christopher Colombus. Built on the first paved street of the New World, where beautiful Spanish ladies strolled to display their rich costumes, the hotel's guests will enjoy an outstanding stay in a unique place where the stones, patios and fountains will take you back in time.

A true hideaway that is much more than a hotel. Centrally located in an affluent area but an absolute retreat. The food is addictive. I have been a visitor of Santo Domingo for about 22 years and the food here is comparable to the very best of Santo Domingo. Rooms are meticulously decorated, with attention to the smallest details. El Embajador (The Ambassador) is what the guests feel like, from the moment you walk-in, the staff treat you like an Ambassador. Kudos to the management of this Royal Hideaway.

Check in process was simple, we've heard music being played in their 2nd floor and rushed from our room, the young man playing the Saxophone, this guy was mazing, wife & daughter loved his music. We had Salmon & chicken plus a couple of drinks, great food & service. The hotel is very nicely decorated, very upbeat atmosphere. This is mostly a business hotel. In the 7th floor you have the Sauna, although it did not get as warm as my wife wanted it. They also have a very good gym, everything you need. They also have a great Rooftop, Infinite pool overlooking the city and a bar, food is served as well, There was a private party 11/28, we had a great time. Rooms have a safe & mini bar, safe did not work, did not report it. Shower had some yellowish stains, not too bad. Breakfast food & service was on point with expectations, lobby also has a small shop that sells sodas & small trinquets, very useful. Parking is narrow, but good enough. We've stayed at other holiday Inns throughout the US & Europe, I've been a member of IHG since 2000, surprisingly, this was the nicest HI we've stayed at. This is my new small , don't break the bank hotel in Santo Domingo. You have Mojitos Bar w/i 10-15 minutes walking distance, Agora Mall & Acropolis near by, good places to walk or go see.

Panhandling is not allowed on property but when you step on the sand, well... They are nice people trying to make a living. We found that they are very friendly if you have a brief conversation with them then politely decline if you choose. We made small purchases. The inclusive food is good/not great. There is a pay restaurant on the dock that is whala also. Very good food. The sports bar in the middle of the complex is pay as well with excellent food. Nice to have thse options to take a break from the buffet food.

Horrible experence

Reviewed By eve132016

On Friday 3/11/22, my family and I showed to Hamaca hotel in Boca Chica at 6PM as we had reservation for two rooms X 4 people. However, they was no electricity in the hotel, a lady at the front desk took our IDs/passports, gave us the bracelets and told us to return later as they could not provide us the room key due to lock of power. My family and I left the facility returned 3 hours later (9PM) and there was still no power. At that time there was a gentleman by the name of Edgardo was at the front desk, we informed him that we were leaving the facility as we waited for the key for 3 hours. He said he was going to have us a no show. We asked him how he will have us a no show since we were there talking to him. He then provided us a piece of paper with his name on it, name of the hotel and phone number confirming we were there. However, the hotel still have us as a no show and refusing to reimburse us the $364.50 I paid.
