A vibrant nightlife sees friendly crowds packing into nightclubs for a dance or to public squares for concerts and performance art. The city's environs offer skiing and skating, hiking and swimming within its limits. From high-flying roller coasters to low-key wine bars, Montreal has a fabulous artistic and theatre scene, interactive and innovative museums, a lively outdoor sporting culture, and a heroic culinary style that makes it difficult to imagine ever growing bored. Each neighborhood has its own distinct flair and forte, and exploring them all is sure to create lasting memories.

Hidden gem

Reviewed By CanadianTraveler15

This is our second stay at Le Dauphin in central Montreal and this time we've left an awful chain hotel to stay here. Le Dauphin is what a modern, chic, reasonably priced hotel should look and feel like. The rooms are spacious, comfortably appointed, with modern bathrooms, everything is immaculately clean and little extras, like modern showers, heated bathroom tiles, etc. that make a difference. The staff is very helpful: Naomi was so pleasant, attentive and friendly when helping us book a wonderful room at the last minute when we've transferred from another hotel in Montreal. The location cannot be beat: walking distance to everything, the old Port, Chinatown, popular central streets, restaurants etc. The decor is simple, but makes for a comfortable stay and a modern rocking chair is such a cool touch. We had a very urban view with a bit of Chinatown entrance gate and it was super cool. Very good breakfast served daily, with plenty of food choices and excellent coffee. The overall environment is so pleasant: calm, quiet, modern, and well thought through. Love this little gem of a hotel, highly recommend.

dated and dark but downtown

Reviewed By 80juanitawade

Finding access to the hotel lobby from the street/parking area required 3 elevators. It wasn't until we found the parking attendants that we were sure we were in the right spot to check in. While the hotel is in a great location and the rooms were quiet, the wallpaper in the halls was peeling, the lobby/halls/room were dark, and the windows were dirty. The "art" in the lobby and common areas was a little scary with faces peering from faux books and the fire wall was going on a 90 degree day. The front desk staff was largely disinterested in providing information/assistance.

Not what it used to be

This was a hotel we went to frequently. There is a corporate rate for my husband to stay there and attend company meetings. We have not been stayed at the hotel since the pandemic. It used to be one of the nicer hotels with great staff and restaurants. What a difference it has become. Due to the pandemic there is no maid service. After 3 days we needed clean towels, ours were damp. We are in Montreal, I tried to ask the maid for towels in English and French. She could only speak Spanish. We ran out of toilet paper, the frig wasn’t working, we needed more cups. We asked the front desk, they did not have any protocol as to where we were to obtain these things. Our room was well worn with chipped furniture and pictures with cracked glass. It was so frustrating. We will ever stay there again. The front desk was not at all helpful.

As soon as I arrived one the owners was there to greet me. My room was great. Bed was Comfy. Room was spacious. Shower was great. My only issue was the AC. I was lucky it didn’t get too hot. Fan was a plus. The location is great. 5 minute walk to the pie-IX metro. Close to Olympia stadium. Being a baseball fan I liked seeing an old MLB relic. 10 minute walk to 2 Breweries. Close to restaurants and shops along Ontario St. Next time I visit Montreal I will stay again.

Great location, restrictions in covid .

Reviewed By halls2022

Location great. Staff very friendly. At time of visit the hotel informed us that there would be no room service available due to covid . This hotel was the last of 5 hotels we visited in Canada and yet the only hotel that did not offer room service. We were also informed that we could not go down for breakfast and breakfast would be sent to our room which it was in a pack lunch style basket. This was disappointing we could book and have a meal in the restaurant at night. Not up to date with covid restrictions and way behind the other hotels in Canada. Wish I would have changed hotel .

We found this hotel to be far better than the 3 star it is rated. After I read a couple of recent reviews I was concerned that our travel agent made a mistake. She didn’t; we are very pleased with our large room with all the amenities; fridge, micro and Nespresso machine. Quality bedding and towels. Everything is spotless and new condition. Nice Montreal artwork on the walls. Our room has a huge 60” tv and the wifi works great. Check-in was efficient and friendly. It’s a 10-20 minute walk to areas of interest but with all the good restaurants in Montreal…we need the exercise.

New hotel, great location downtown and near Chinatown, old town and port. Room was spacious and front desk helpful arranging early check in. Bathroom sink hard to control water temp; no recycle bin, limited TV channels. Strong WIFI signals and easy access. Darlington restaurant on prem was not open for lunch , was painfully slow in service at dinner and had limited menu offerings.
