Hotel Botanico San Lazzaro

It is certainly the jewel missing on the Amalfi coast, thanks to its arches in typical Mediterranean style, the botanical garden, the exotic garden and all modern facilities, such as bars. All rooms and suites are furnished with taste and charm with majolica tiles from Vietri sul mare and hand decorated furniture, masterpiece of Tuscan craftsmen.

Amalfi visit

This was my 2nd time visiting this hotel because we had such a great experience the first time. We were as equally impressed this stay. The entire hotel staff is so helpful, professional, and friendly. Domenico, the GM, greeted us and took us on tour of the gardens and to the top of the lemon orchard. He also arranged for a water taxi, private shuttle and helped with other special accommodations-we had a group of 15 people and 8 rooms. And how about Antonio carrying 30 bags and helping with other requests. The entire staff was incredible. And the view can’t be beat-one of the best views on the Amalfi Coast and in the world! Highly recommend it and we will be back!

I got a very old room, not matching the picture, air conditioning sometimes works and sometimes not, ants in bathroom , flies at the lobby! The only good thing abaout the hotel is the location and the staff. Wont come back.

Can’t fault it

We have just returned from a weeks holiday on the Amalfi coast. We stayed in this accommodation in Maiori. It was a great base to explore with easy access to the ferry to all the different places. We went to Sorrento, Capri, Positano and Amalfi. It is a cheaper alternative than staying in these resorts.Maiori is a lovely town with lots of restaurant choices and a good beach vibe. Our apartment was huge, we were in Room 501 and it had 2 large bedrooms, living area, kitchen and 2 bathrooms. The balcony faced onto the pool.It was quite dated but I think that is just Italian style. It was immaculately clean and well equipped. The hotel itself has a lovely big pool with a diving board and small slide for the kids. The pool bar was very nice. The staff were all very friendly.I would definitely stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending. If people don’t mind a more dated/traditional decor you won’t have anything to complain about. We were in the apartments, the hotel rooms may be different. The hotel is a nice 5 mins walk to the beach and restaurants but the area felt very safe even when walking on a night.

Our recent stay was decent-good, and in some manners exceeded our expectations, but at the same time was kinda disappointing. The hotel staff was great; everyone was friendly and attentive to our needs, which were minimal. Pros: Unexpected Gym – upon arriving I had seen what looked like a gym, and sure enough it was. It’s a very simple gym with two treadmills, a bike and some misc. weight machines; there are also two sets of small dumbbells. This was an added bonus as I had expected to run outside for my stay in Maiori. Breakfast was included in our stay. Wasn’t the best but wasn’t the worst. We kept it pretty simple with fruit, yogurt and granola, with an occasional pastry, then made our way to lunch after a nice walk. The dining room and outside terrace are beautiful, so it makes for a nice breakfast scene. Room is spacious with comfy beds (no safe but I believe there was a fridge) Complimentary wifi worked well. The décor of the hotel and rooms screamed vintage, which is totally fine, but there was a touch of fancy to it; all their linens and towels were branded with the hotel name. I thought that was a nice touch. Views from room were nice. Cons: Room smelled like smoke and a dental office, hence the VINTAGE feel. We just tolerated it for the two nights we were there bc we didn’t think any of the other rooms would be any different. No AC – this was a disappointment although sorta understandable. Apparently, this town has to get a permit to be allowed to use their AC and they were in the midst of obtaining authorization when we got there. Had I known, I probably would’ve booked a dif hotel considering it was 82-/+ degrees during our stay. The heat was unbearable and keeping the balcony door open was not an option due to bugs and noise from the street. I read on the door that when AC is operable, it can only be used between certain hours. Very interesting but I guess you live and learn. Wish I could give a 3.5 star rating but I can only do 3 or 4. I mean you get what you paid for and we didn’t pay much, at the same time the level of fanciness doesn’t match up with what they were lacking. Probably wouldn’t stay here again unless it was a steal.

Lovely accommodation with stunning views

I stayed here with my sister for 4 days on the coast and we had a great experience at the residence. The staff were super helpful assisting us on the phone prior to arriving with arranging transport from the train station in Salerno, and upon arrival we had a smooth check in. Our room was clean and functional, with adequate amenities. Only negative was that we had a corner suite, which had great views, but the wifi only worked in the room if you sat at the very edge of the table near the door (did not work in main area of suite/bedroom).

A fantastic hotel just a short walk from Māori on the Amalfi coast. Quiet and very personal as it only has a few rooms.

The staff are wonderful and give you such a personal service. Especially Ramona who made our stay very special. Always smiling and happy to help out with our dietary needs as my family are both gluten and lactose intolerant. Nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to all the staff especially our drivers who would take you into Māori and pick you up again. Mostly anytime you wanted. The free transfer was brilliant. Thanks also to the cooks who produced some lovely food.

Great B&B next to everything you need

Don’t be fooled by the entrance to the B&B . It’s basically a B&B at the top of tan apartment block. But once your up top it’s perfect. Great price right next to the beach ( 2min walk ) Supermarket ( 2 min walk ) and all the restaurants ( 2-6)l min walk) . Very clean and nice inside . The rooftop terrace was brilliant in the afternoons we took our drinks and sat up there before and after we went out for dinner almost every evening. They have a small bar ( 2 euros a beer ) if you haven’t got your own drinks. Parking is 15 euros a day which is very cheap for the area . We also visited the rest of the Amalfi Coast and found Maiori to have better beach and less expensive dinning options. You can get to the other villages very easy . Boat taxi recommend ( 12 pp euros to Positano ) And bus is ( 2 pp euros to Amalfi ) Don’t drive parking is expensive and hardly any spaces . The boat is the best way to travel around

It was mine and my partners first trip abroad, and we couldn't have picked a better hotel. Firstly the views from the hotel were breathtaking, overlooking Maori and Amalfi itself. We took trips to Ravello, Amalfi and World famous positano, seen a lot of hotels. None with uniqueness of this hotel as it is built into a cave and over a 1000 years old. The room itself was cleaned everyday and the bed was the best part, so comfortable. The decor had an old feeling which matched every aspect of the hotel. Breakfast was served, continental style to set you up for the day. The team, Vincenzo and the lady, looked after the hotel in the day and were very professional and Italo in the night was also very welcoming. The free shuttle to and from Maori at set times through the day was a highlight and on time every time, taxis can be expensive so this was a very welcoming touch. Overall experience 9.5/10
