Nice place with lot of space!
Farm stay with pros and cons
Reviewed By Nicolai WHohenwarte is a family-run farm stay on the danish-german border. Its main feature is a wide range of animals: Horses, donkeys, rabbits, ducks, pigs, sheep and raccoons. The family room we stayed in had place for four in a double bed and a bunk bed. A fridge and a kettle was the room's amenities. The room had its own shower, and though everything was clean it was heavily used. The standard was that of a hostel, though linen was provided. It was a little difficult to find out about the layout of the place and the activities, since the reception staff didn't make any effort to introduce us. So we went exploring on our own. Breakfast and other meals were served mess hall-style in the same room as the reception or on a long table outside the reception. The owner's three dogs roamed around the yard just outside the reception area. One of the dogs even visited us in our room. The playground and the animal cages were worn down and neglected and some of the toys obviously needed repair. The trampolin though was new and the kids loved playing and petting the animals. Overall we felt that the place was more for regulars, who knew the owners and wanted to hang out with them. A better introduction would have made us fell less estranged. Regarding the price you can find better and cheaper accomodation elsewhere in the area.

Reviewed By patricia wMy husband and I have just had a good time in this place. The rooms were clean, and yet cosy. The staff were friendly whilst being informative. I have no hesitation in recommending this place. Hojer is also a beautiful place to visit.

Reviewed By 984mikkelsVi skulle bare bruge en enkel overnatning i det sønderjyske og til det formål var stedet godt. Der var lidt spil og legetøj til børnene og så var der en god morgenmad selvom deres kaffe ikke var så god.

Reviewed By SureshDenmarkThe kro claims to go back to 1711, but provides all the modern comforts and facilities in its 235-bed capacity spread over 15 properties in the area. Very welcoming owner/manager and the lively talkative senior Mr Wendick. Nice quiet beautiful natural area mingling with the German border, with nearby sightseeing places such as Nolde museum, and also to watch the thousands of sterling birds doing their sunset show of "sortsol" "Blacksun" - an experience in itself. Although food is so so, but it is quite OK at such a distant place. Over all, highly recommended for stay and explore.

Übernachten wie bei Freunden
Reviewed By Jochen GKirsten und Ole sind sehr herzliche, tolle Gastgeber, die Zimmer sind frisch renoviert und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, mit bequemen Betten. Die Lage ist ruhig und mit guter Anbindung nach Tonder und Romo, ein Supermarkt ist in der Nähe. Absolut empfehlenswert.
