Trash, dirty and a hostile host

Reviewed By adamperch1999

Unfortunately a lot of the islands are covered in plastic and trash. One morning we even experienced one of the locals canoeing out on open water to dump trash in the ocean. Furthermore, we had no running water for 3 out of our 4 booked nights, in addition to a flooded bathroom floor which gave a smell of sewer, despite paying approximately 250$ a night. A working toilet+shower were some of the main reasons we booked this expensive accommodation to begin with. Instead we had to shower with a bucket and kiss our remains goodbye using the same bucket. We asked several times, when the water would be back, but they kept answering “soon soon” - obviously not interested in helping us. We tried to explain to the host that we were unhappy with the situation and tried to cut what we believe was a fair deal. The final offer we were given was to either pay the full price and stay the last night, or pay for 3 nights and leave immediately. Given the circumstances and the hostile energy, we didn’t want to spend another minute in this overpriced cash machine. They did not speak English, but the language barrier was not really the problem. When trying to communicate in a polite way with the hostess, they seemed extremely indifferent and annoyed by the situation, which obviously made us feel very unwelcome.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The facilities though, while rated 3 and a half star online, were at best 1 star. The room was poor and the mousquitos were plentiful, despite the nets over the beds. The food was mediocre at best. Again the best feature was the staff.

Very nice silent vacation. Retreat from civilization.

Reviewed By Piotr P

We have ordered through booking. The name of the place was Arridup Islands, San Blas. They use different names for this place like Cabanas Nubesidub or Discover Guna Yala. I suppose that it is because of the very different opinions about this place. For us it was beautiful place. We found it at tripadvisor and read before what to expect. So rustic toilets and showers was not surprise for us. But they were clean. Simple chalets without cupboards inside and the food prepared by hosts from fish everyday also not. But the place is very beautiful. The island is approx. 150 meters long. You have small beach before the chalet. 20 meters from the island there is the small reef very nice for snoorkeling. Take your mask and fins. You can not rent them there. For 2 $ you can order beer or coconuts. They do not have anything else. Mineral water you can take from Panama. I also use ti to brush teeth. We have ordered the transfer for 80 $ per person from Panama Citi. 3 hours by jeep and 1 hour by boat. They organized for guest also the boat trip to Pelikan Island - free of charge. So before you go there be sure that silent, retreat from the civilization is what you want. If yes this is this the place for you. if not do not go there.

Not your ordinary vacation

Reviewed By Extraordinary527758

Listen, if you're looking for a luxury hotel, this is not it. The cabins are primitive, there is no air conditioning, and the beds are not super comfy. There is no hot water, electricity for a few hours at night only, and no real amenities. But if you are looking for a secluded getaway that's off the grid, and really an experience that you won't have anywhere else, then this is for you! It is amazingly beautiful here and incredibly peaceful. As long as you keep your accommodation expectations in check, you'll have a great time! Our first night on the island, we were the only guests there. The staff was continuously courteous and respectful to us and did their best to communicate with us and meet our needs. This is an adventure, and one that you won't regret having!

It's paradise on earth!Stayed there for 4 nights in a wooden cabaña 3 meters from the sea. People are nice, meet some great people from all over the world, had campfires on the beach. The Guna people are very nice and sweet, the food is simple but delicious. One night we ordered lobster wich was amazing and cost only 20$ per piece. A must. Don't stay only one night.

Three days and two nights exploring the islands of San Blas

Reviewed By Lorri W

This trip was everything the company said it was. And more. Yes, the facilities were basic, but everything was clean and worked. The food was excellent. With a group of people with different interests, the guide did exactly what needed to be done - we were taken to an island, told how long we would be there (and where to snorkel if that is what we wanted to do) and then allowed to do what we wanted to do. I loved the freedom to spend two hours floating in the water and watching what was happening below me. If you are expecting 5 star accommodations and a lot of structure, the San Blas Islands are probably not for you.

Il paradiso in terra

Reviewed By SamanthaGarofalo

Abbiamo passato tre notti in paradiso!

Simple basic accommodations in typical Guna Yala style "hut"

Reviewed By alikarim

Stayed here 1 night; they have 3 rooms with a shared bath behind a store/restaurant on the pier of Nalunega Island. Very basic; but the proprietor, staff and the people of this lsiand are very hospitable and nice people. The cabanas are basic, with solar powered lights (LED) and shared bath which is over the water, and very basic. No comforts of home here. BUt worth visiting to experience the culture of these wonderful people. The food served in the restaurant is fresh seafood (fresh catch) daily. We had fresh red Snapper and fresh lobsters which were great. Large helpings of food.
