The best available hotels & places to stay near Gibraltar

August 7, 2022 Phylicia Berquist

Rising up as an indomitable peak at the gateway between Spain and the African coast, Gibraltar is a unique destination with a life that goes beyond its surface. The monolithic Rock of Gibraltar entices tourists with its lush greenery and the friendly Barbary Macaques ubiquitous to the area. Beneath its looming exterior lay the Galleries, a veritable labyrinth of underground passageways running through the Rock. Above ground there is also plentiful tax-free shopping, as well as numerous beaches.

Exceeded expectations! Gorgeous rooms and views. Made our wedding special.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights whilst we got married in Gibraltar. Facilities: Firstly; the rooms are so much nicer than the photos online! Airy, clean, colourful and a relaxed atmosphere. Nobody talks about the stunning views from the hotel. From the poolside and loungers you have a stunning view of the rock, and on the other side, you have the ocean, the town, and if you’re lucky you can catch a glimpse of mountains in Africa from your room! Upon arrival we received complimentary truffles which were gorgeous and free champagne bought to our room. It also appears we were upgraded even though it had not been mentioned - as we were placed on the very top floor with our own balcony. Location literally could not be any better. It is about an 8 minute taxi journey from the airport. Cost us less than £10 to travel. The hotel is just around the corner from the main high street so you’re right on the doorstep of shops, bakeries cafes, and restaurants. Despite this there was no street noise from the room. The reception staff were so helpful, and as an LGBT couple we felt comfortable and supported by the lovely members of staff - as we required the hotel to provide proof of stay for our marriage, they happily sorted that for us in no time and we felt very welcomed by them. I certainly recommend them for anyone travelling to Gibraltar to get married, and it is welcoming to stay here regardless of your background. Housekeeping did an exceptional job every-time. Overall lots of care and attention from all staff. There was honestly no real down-side to our stay at all. Unfortunately during our stay one of the elevators had broken, so sometimes you were waiting for a lift for over 5 minutes and it was crowded. We could not find any stairs. I’m sure this has been fixed since and these things do happen. We had such a great time and wish to come back for our anniversary. We will certainly be staying here again as we can't imagine staying anywhere else, and hope it is as good as the first time. Thank you! Gracias!

Spent a long weekend here recently. Nothing but good things to say, breakfast choices excellent, taken on the terrace. Dinner on the terrace has to be recommended as well, with those superb views. Concierge is very knowledge and helpful, one of the best I've come across. Reception staff very polite, friendly and approachable. Well done to everyone. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Beautiful boat!

Reviewed By jules682017

We stayed one night on the Jasmine and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great location and friendly, helpful hosts. Gave good tips on things to see and do. The garden on the deck was full of lovely flowers, comfy seating and very relaxing. Location was quiet, close to the centre and plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Room was spotless and tastefully decorated. However being on a boat the beds were quiet narrow and maybe not great for taller guests. To be expected but that would be the only negative. Unfortunately through no fault of the hosts access to the usual route for the marina toilet/shower facilities was shut due to building work. This meant quite a long detour. Would be happy to stay there again and would highly recommend.

Swimming pool closed

Booked the trip on lastminute.com as a baby moon with my wife who is 6 months pregnant the main reason for choosing here was the pool. On arrival we found out the pool was closed in may there was no information about this online if I would of knew this I wouldn’t of booked. I then had to get buses/taxis with my 6 months pregnant wife to the beach everyday as we had no where to relax, which was the whole point of the holiday. Room was basic but had all your needs and location was good and near by to restaurants. There is a massive construction site getting done next to the swimming pool so not sure if when the pool is open people may feel uncomfortable sunbathing by the pool with a building site over looking you. We unfortunately never had the opportunity for this to happen.

Very Convenient & Tidy Rental

Reviewed By To-Rome-or-To-Rome

We stayed here for a week and had booked many months in advance as accommodation in Gibraltar can be expensive (if available) if left until too close to your arrival. We had the middle of three apartments which had a double bed & a single bed in the bedroom with a bed/settee in the lounge/kitchen area. All facilities were available as you would expect for a Self Catering apartment and kitchen was equipped well for cooking/eating. The bath had a shower over and there were ample towels - noted a few bugs some mornings but this is in Old Town and is to be expected. We were booked on a late flight and after asking Clive nicely, he allowed us to stay until 18:00 on our departure date as he didn't have a consecutive booking - thanks. The only complaint we really had was that the final clean through of the floor before we arrived was not with clean water as our feet got grubby walking through. But on the whole we were happy with the flat and especially it's convenient location approximately 4 minutes off Main Street Many Thanks

Another perfect stay !

Reviewed By CookGlasgowScotland

This was our second holiday here. We just love it ! Kristina who is in charge and also makes the bookings looks after us so well. We were in a Studio Apartment this time and for us it was ideal. We never spend much time in our room. The Studio had so much space. The one we were in was on the 9th floor. It was very quiet and had lovely views. It had everything you would need including a fridge freezer / a washer dryer / a kitchen sink and microwave. The double bed was very comfortable although it is not a huge bed. There is not a Reception like in a hotel but there is a Front Desk (Security) on the ground floor where you pick up your keys and Ben there was very helpful and friendly. We also met the Supervisor, Anaika, who was extremely friendly as well. There is a Spa and Gym in the building and they have their own outside swimming pool. You get free use of the pool. It's a lovely pool and it overlooks the sea. We never had a problem getting a sunbed no matter what time we arrived. The Atlantic Suites are ideally located - not far from the shops on the Main Street and the restaurant areas which we love - Casemates Square, Chatham Counterguard, Ocean Village and Queensway Quay. We are booked again for September ! We will be experiencing Gibraltar National Day for the first time !
