Modern Esbjerg is the country's largest port and the base of Denmark's oil industry. Central sights are easily explored on foot, and buses shuttle to the Fisheries and Maritime Museum, where Denmark's fishing history is celebrated. Visitors should explore the main streets: Skolegade is crammed with bars, and pedestrian-only Kongensgade bustles with 150 shops and restaurants. Home to the original Legoland, this city of 85,000 also offers fun daytrips to picturesque Fano, 12 minutes away by ferry.

Overpriced

Reviewed By globaltraveller9999

We spent three nights in a "suite". The hotel has a nice view of the ocean. However, a rather loud and frequented street is between the hotel and the ocean. What they call "suite", I would call a normal sized room with a separating wall. We paid 400 Euros per night. That is in my opinion overpriced (we spent five nights before in the 5-star-hotel Alte Meierei in Glücksburg - no comparison in terms of value for money.

Great and central stay

Reviewed By 78petters

The small village in classical danish design really welcomed us. Our family room had all we needed for a nice weekend including a full kitchen. The village area was really nice and offered a great BBQ area which we utilized to cook our oysters we picked in the Wadden Sea during the day. It is also just a short walk to the fairytale city center. We loved our stay.

A very nice small hotel in a very dull place

Reviewed By OBD2OBD

A very nice small hotel in a very dull place. This hotel is the only place to be in Holsted. A hotel with character. Service was perfect, very nice breakfast. The room we had was a small suite with design fitted for an airplane pilot. Good to have a small kitchen with micro-own and refrigerator. We also had a balcony we used in the sunset. Wifi worked ok, but my 4g was in fact better. The breakfast was served in a large garage with design as an airplane garage, very cool. And of course, a real Danish breakfast was available. Dinner at the hotel restaurant “Blue Train” in the evening was also very good, except from the beer in the restaurant – it was a bit bitter, but that just my taste. We will be back at some time.

Hotel Dagmar

Fabulous stay!

Reviewed By MrsLevy

Hotell Dagmar is the oldest Hotell in Denmark, situated in Ribe (which is said to be the Norths oldest village so lots of history and personality here) in the town square right by the beautiful and famous Cathedral. We stayed (Thursday-Monday) in the Main house (there is a newer part hosted in an other building, short walk but good to know when you book so that you get what you want on your stay) a very well kept historical building with lots of charming rooms to choose from. The staff was wonderful, warm and welcoming (actually everybody that we met in the village was really nice) and they took such great care of all of us (Two grownups, two boys 11 and 13 and one dog) and we instantly fell in love with the place. We had great dinners in the beautiful restaurant and it was very clear that it was much appreciated by the locals to. The breakfast was really good with a nice touch of Danish food culture and it contained everything you could wish for, both cold and warm food. In the area there is much to see and do. They have a Viking village close by and there is also Vadehavscentret (a must visit) where you can go straight out in the North sea (depending on the tide) on a guided oyster hunt (recommended) and eat the freshest oyster you ever had. We are already planning for another stay, maybe even in the Winter when there is a Christmas market (Peters Jul).

VERY DISSAPOINTED

Reviewed By Des Paula J

Very dissapointed with this hotel. We parked in an space for electric cars, we thought it was but wasnt it was for charging, the Manager said he would waiver the ticket , but then he didnt, . There was loud music outside in bards till early morning. My husband was ill so i asked for late checkout on the Sunday the person said it would be chargeable , i agreed i would be prepared to pay £30 . Next morning i was told it would be an extra nights cost £146 , i couldnt do it. I am the booker for a lot of people who stayed at Brittania , i took them all, i will not be staying there anymore or booking anyone. This must be the only hotel in the world that does not have a single toaster for bread at breakfast, i asked for mine to be totasted in kitchen they took iit and came back after 20 mins , so no breakfast, the rest of hot food was barely warm. wont attend again.
