Reviewed By ArrastapeWe visited Caxambu during the low season and there were a total of about five or six rooms occupied when we arrived. We were given the last room a the end of a long corridor on the second floor. It appeared that some other rooms were being remodeled but the room we got felt like it had seen better days...cathode ray TV, old curtains, old bed etc. In summary, the room was uncomfortable and we requested for a change the following morning. The clerk told us that they could not change our rooms because the manager was not there and that he or she would not be available until 16:00h. It so happen that the manager was on a trip and could not be reach until arriving at destination. In anycase, the room change was made after we returned from the spa. As for parking, this hotel has a small garage that can accommodate about four or five cars which is not a problem during high vacancy period. The morning breakfast was good and sumptuous.

Reviewed By globaltraveller_1978As soon as you step into this family-run hotel, it feels like being back in the middle of the last century. This is how tourism in Brazil has once been! The furniture, the hospitality, the music that is played - everything is old-fashioned, but in a very positive way. The rooms are very clean and offer all you need, and the furniture is in a colonial style and very well maintained. The location of the hotel is superb - in the middle of town and opposite the entrance to the "Parque das Aguas". Try to have dinner here as well - it is at a very economic price! The four course dinner (soup, first course, second course as well as cheese/dessert) is offered at the rate of 22 Reais (11 US$), a caipirinha at 5 Reais (2.50 US$). The food is tasty and gets served in front of guests, while old walz music can be heard in the background. Dinner here is delicious and it's hard to beat this excellent price/service ratio! Threre is free WiFi available in the lobby. Furthermore, there is free guarded parking as well as free coffee all day long. If you want to make sure you have a quiet night, ask for a room facing the courtyard. The rooms toward the street are brighter but can be a bit noisy at night. Caxambu is an ideal night stop if you're travelling on the Estrada Real, the colonial-era road between Paraty and Ouro Preto / Diamantina. Don't miss the Parque das Aguas, where you can drink from different mineral water sources. The water is said to have healing powers!

Great kids entreteriment team, nice room
Reviewed By Companion61353553555Stayed in a double room which had a great space but unfortunately the sound coming from above apartment guests and outside street shop made us take some time before relaxing and faking asleep. Recreating team tough was fantastic!!! So carrying with my kids as well as the entire group of kids. Fun games and activities, potty we didn’t have much time as we had to head up to the next city. Food was average but why windows are kept open when it’s 7 degrees outside? Didn’t feel much cozy…

I have used that hotel when doing the Estrada Real by bike
Reviewed By Adilson MIt was a single night on this hotel, but it was a good experience considering I was travelling by bike. Very decent place and excelent relation cost x beneft. Good bedroom and shower. TV and air condidtion was ok.
