Riveli Retreat, 6 room guest house located on the beach front with stunning sea view overlooking lush coconut trees. The in-house restaurant serve all meals with indoor & outdoor dining. All rooms have spacious balcony fitted with two comfortable chairs and a coffee table. Activities for in-house guest includes, snorkeling, diving, fishing, resort excursions, dolphin and manta viewing & sand bank.
An Excellent Guest House
Reviewed By stephan aHaving stayed only in Tourist Islands over the last 15 years maybe 15/20 including Halaveli, Moofushi, Grand Centara and Soneva Fushi I had an opportunity to visit a local island as my wife had to return to the UK after a week at Haliveli due commitments. I had been recommended Riveli Retreats and the island of Mathiveri from a Maldivian working on one of the tourist islands. After all the luxury of the other islands I was looking forward to enjoying the local culture and island life without the pomp and ceremony associated with our usual trips. Riveli Retreats is owned by two brothers. One of the brothers looks after the guest house by the name of Faruhadh. He arranged a speed boat from Haliveli and met me on the boat at trip that took a comfortable 35 minutes to Mathiveri. He then offered me a tour of the small island on his motorcycle which was very kind and interesting. My room looks was spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely view through the palm trees onto the beach. I had the bed and breakfast option and was offered any choice of breakfast I could think of and this was extended to dinner on 5 occasions. The flexibility to request meals such as fish curry or Lobster was available as it was a quiet period but I’m sure they would always go out of there way to oblige if they could. The chef was Shohag who was enthusiastic and very good considering he had to replace the normal chef taken I’ll at short notice. My whole stay was enjoyable and I met lovely helpful interesting people with a genuine kindness and it left me with nothing but good memories. All the rooms are good but naturally the sea view rooms at a premium. The excursions are numerous and relatively inexpensive. There are a number of grocery shops selling essentials and fresh fruit. A few restaurants open all day one in particular I enjoyed called Second Home. ( order before you arrive if possible) . They will make anything or just surprise you. It was very good. I checked out other guest houses but one seemed as good. I will definitely be back here sooner than later as there were signs of too many new guest houses being built and a large hotel that will surely spoil this unspoilt island in years to come. In the mean time I can’t recommend it enough. Everything will be arranged for you at minimum cost from the boat transfer or sea plane to the dreaded PCR at the little hospital next door.

Hospitality here does not have competitors, the owner will really go out of this way to make you feel at home and make the most out of your stay! The guest house is right on the most beautiful beach and there are free kayaks and snorkelling gear for guests to use (which is a huge PLUS) . without even mentioning tasty local breakfast! Even if I tried my hardest, I could not find a single negative thing about this place.

Best location on the island
Reviewed By TvvonpragueAri villa has the best location on the island, with a private sandbank just a few minutes swim away. Kayaks and equipment for snorcheling are free to rent and you can also order food directly to the accomodation and eat it at the terrace. The rooms are simple but clean with everyday service. Would definitely come again!

Nous n’avons pas été déçu, poissons excellents et très bien préparés. Ils ont ouverts il y a deux mois, nous n’avons pas dormi là bas mais avons visité les chambres, très mignonnes. Les propriétaires sont aussi très accueillants !

Good place and good people
Reviewed By maxxmigom_We spent here 2,5 weeks. It was amazing rest and good excursions! Very affordable prices. Good room and nice stuff. Will I recommend this place for my friends? Yes! Will I return here? Yes! We didn’t have any troubles here and every time we could arrange about prices, food, excursions and so on. Especially thank you for fish meal and carry and garlic rice, it were amazing. Very kind and polite stuff. It was very important for us because of my pregnant wife. Cleaning every day. Reviewed By tiv_86Mathiveri was our first experience on Maldives and it was an excellent choise! First of all, a few words about Mathiveri island itself. It is a habited island, so you will not feel cut off from the civilization. There are several cafés and shops, medical centre, playground, regular public speedboat to Malé (2 times a day, $50 per person). Beaches are located at north-west side ('stingray beach') and south side (bikini beach on the south-west and public beach on the south east). There is also a small separate 'picknick island' on the south east. This time of the year (July) west mousson creates the currents along all these beaches, and it causes inconveniences while swimming with kids. On the other hand the water is enough deep for swimming (in the other seasons it can be shallow along bikini beach). Beware of rising water level and do not leave anything on the beach, it would be washed away with waves and current. Bottom is covered by corals parts, so 'coral shoes' are recommended. It is possible to reach the picknick island by yourself just by swimming from bikini beach downstream, it is rather simple. But the way back is challenging, cause you have to cross the current betwee the islands and it is rather strong. Anyway I did it 3 times and even with kids. Picknick island has two major advantages: sandy bottom without corals and no current. But beware of scorpions under the trees, we found one there. Near the harbour (northen part of the island) you can find a small pier, where one can observe sharks, turtles and even sea rays in the evening hours (6-7 p.m.) ------------------- And now about the hotel. It is the nearest hotel from bikini beach, just 2 minutes walk. We stayed at family room with two queen-size beds. Room is divided with screen into 2 parts. Aircon was is good state. We had some sewege issues, but they were fixed quickly. We ordered half-board and it was a mistake, full board is a better choise! Food is modest but good enough for adults. Kids refused to eat some items so we requested special menu for them (plain rice, french fries, corn flakes etc.), so finally everyone was satisfied. Cafes 'Mosu' and '2nd kitchen' located ~200m from the hotel are nice, but you have to wait the order for 1-2 hours, I believe there's better way to spend your time. We ordered two snorkeling boat trips in the hotel (just reaf and mantas), both were nice. I would like to express my personal gratitude to hotel's manager Rishwan who was friendly and responsible (and always available via whatsapp/ phone) and all the team of Holiday Mathivery Inn. You helped to make our stay comfortable and unforgettable! Hope to come back again! Ivan.
