We are three people traveling on motorcycles from Cape Town to Austria. Our route will take us through Saudi Arabia and the German Guesthouse was a huge help with information on the ferry and visa requirements. The public area of the Guesthouse is perfect for relaxing and taking care of much needed down time. Pool is perfect in the heat of Khartoum. The all inclusive pricing is great. Food laundry services, water and all the help you could ask for regarding information in and around Khartoum is worth far more than the price we paid. Assistance like this in a non English speaking country in invaluable.

Plaza Hotel

Good average, but staff very helpful

Reviewed By andrasz

Chosen for location rather than anything else (previously used the Regency but that is now closed), the rooms are reasonably clean and the hot water worked, so nothing to complain about. The appearance is rather run down, but this is made up for by very friendly and helpful staff, overall I would rate it a bit better than the Regency.

Paradise Hotel

An average hotel in a relatively safe neighborhood in Khartoum

Reviewed By Raj5419

The plus points about this hotel are that it is very close to the airport and it is in a relatively safe, diplomatic area, which is well guarded by the police. The rooms are fairly spacious but overall the quality of furnishing is average. During my stay, the room A/C was dysfunctional and the wifi was non-existent in my room. The restaurant in the hotel is decent and the breakfast spread is fair. The Ozone park restaurant is nearby so you can eat out if you are not too happy with the restaurant food. The service is just average.

Comfortable, quiet residential neigborhood near airport, friendly staff

Reviewed By christian c

Small size, family feeling hotel at a reasonable price (40€ / night) for a westerner but an average month salary for a Sudanese. Ample, very clean room with comfortable double bed and efficient, silent air conditioning. Modest breakfast included, served in an enclosed, quiet garden. The staff is friendly and helpful. I've stayed for a month in Sudan , visited 4 cities, stayed in 5 hotels. ALAHLAM hotel is by far the best value. A great find.

Decent Business Hotel

Reviewed By michlmichl

This is a business hotel nearby the center of the city of Khartoum, but where is the center of Khartoum? Never mind, the airport i near, some of the main hotspots too. The hotel has also a decent restaurant, business facilities an WiFi. The WiFi is accessable in all building but the bandwith is poor, so have bit patience. Hotel has to be paid in US$ as everywhere in Khartoum. Staff is kind and accomodating. All the building and interiors are worn out. No hot water in the bathroom at the time of my stay. Very hard matresses. But cleanness is impeccable. Breakfast ist bit poor, coffee is instant. Espresso from the machine has to be asked.

Nice enough rooms but world's rudest staf.

Reviewed By Daniel G

I stayed here because I really needed Wifi. When I got there the staff told me that there was Wifi, and I stupidly did not check. There was not. I asked them to fix it, explaining that it was very very important for me and that that was the only reason I was chosing such an expensive hotel. I understand that they aren't technical experts, but a simple "we're really sorry" would have been nice. Instead they scoffed at me, made funny faces and funny noises. Eventually one guy came up to look, did some silly things on my computer and just disappeared. I waited for half an hour but he never came back. I'd been in Sudan for 8 days by then and have travelled around a bunch of other Arab countries, so I understand the cultural differences. This was not the Arab cultural thing of not wanting to get involved in another person's affairs. This was most absolutely racism. The silly faces and silly noises are totally unacceptible in any hotel let alone a mid-range one. I ended up leaving and going to another place that cost less than one-quarter the prices but is much nicer. The Wifi still doesn't work half the time - I still missed my important Internet event - but at least nobody scoffs at me. I asked them to refund my money but they refused. The room seemed nice enough. The menu looked OK but maybe a bit pricey. There was a TV but it only got one channel. The air-con worked. Location was OK but a bit sketchy.
