Worst ever holiday, humiliated by owner..scammed.

Reviewed By Tqomsquaredx343

Felt racially profiled by the owner, who gave the room I had booked and specifically requested 2 months back and paid in full to a white couple who booked after me.. I even sent an email to confirm the specific room and it was confirmed as available, I still have the email of the confirmation ..the owner even threatened to kick me out to the street at dusk with my wife and not even get my money back to book somewhere else. Had to beg him to stay while he told me that he was actually doing me a favour. Found out that it is not the first time people of colour have been treated like this. Apparently treats the workers and shouts at them too. Quite a few have left to such behaviour.. felt belittled and scammed for my money. Will never go back there again and would not recommend it to anyone especially person of colour.. worst holiday I ever had . Beach retreat is a horrible place with a horrible owner who cares only about our money but not us a clients.. even his toned was so dismissive and undermining and condensing.. Utterly disgusted..

Amazing Location , absolutely terrible management.

Reviewed By Lailla27

The location of the place is awesome , balcony and the bedroom overlooking the beach. You can clearly hear the sound of the beach and also feel the breeze. Exactly what we wanted. The owner Charlene , seems like a pleasant lady however she does not have faith in people let alone her guests. Firstly I overpaid the remaining balance and informed her , a week later she still claimed she has not received the money( maybe it was the bank delaying , I guess). I arrived 2 nights later , my friends unknowingly brought two friends over in the early hours of Saturday morning apparently around 4am, 7am they were out of the place. Charlene insisted that the 2 friends had arrived way earlier than 4am and that they must pay full boarding price even though my friends had food receipt to proof they were still in town around 3h30am. I convinced my friends to pay up although it sounded unfair that they pay full boarding price of an already paid for room, because Charlene is all about "taking responsibility"! I was checking out a day later than my friends , so I asked Charlene if they could stay with me until 5pm when they leave to catch the bus , she agreed although informed me it's not done that way and they should technically be paying. On my check out day , after breakfast she claimed me and my friends had cracked her Patio glass door and that we must "TAKE RESPONSIBILITY" , I tried to make her aware that no one in their right minds can deliberately break the glass door and that it must have banged around since it was very windy and claimed we were the only one's upstairs - but that was not the case (there was another family that had breakfast same time as us up there), she argued and said a few things , but by that time I wanted to get out of that place as I was visibly irritated. The breakfast sucks as one does not have an option of what they want to have instead you are fed bangers and mash and some juice that tastes awful however one pays +50 rands for it. The dstv is irritating as when you change the channel , someone from somewhere in the house changes it back again. I am a great believer of taking responsibility however , but not Charlene's view of taking responsibility. 3 Weeks later and I am still waiting for my money back. The behaviour of the owner was appalling , her staff is very friendly , great view and location , good rooms and all. I now think that guest houses are over-rated!

Great Accommodation

Reviewed By LivashneeD

I actually visited this place in December 2014. I pitched up on the day and Jo assisted me with accommodation at the very last moment. The bathrooms are spacious and classy. The rooms look sophisticated and smell good. I did not have breakfast at this hotel however it did look good. My only problem was the pillows weren't comfortable. I am sure in the last 5years they have changed those. Definitely stay here you won't go wrong.
