What a nicely maintained and patrolled visitors center! Also very friendly and alert security. Clean grounds and restrooms! Pua my piggy traveling companion loved grazing in the grass! I have been to other rest areas in upper Mississippi...they too are great. From my travels, Mississippi has some of the best maintained, staffed and scenic rest stops of all the southern states! Even Texas ha!

This was our second visit to the area and we are glad we came back to see the museum again. To say its a powerful exhibit would be an understatement. It’s free to visit (though donations are always welcome) and the volunteers are very helpful. Pam gave us a short tour of the museum and then let us explore at our leisure. They are adding new exhibits as time and funding allow. The latest addition is an oral history video using cell phone photos/videos and interviews with locals who were in the area for Katrina’s impact. I wouldn’t say this would be an ideal place to bring little kids but there is a park that shares the same parking lot so it could be a win win for families traveling with little ones.
